IMPROVEMENT IN 'TRUSSES,

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that I, CHARLES A. BAKER, of Auburn, in the county of Cayuga, in the State of New York, have invented an Improvement in Trusses; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon.

To tbe,front pad E is attached the'brass rod A, which is curved out at the top of front pad E, and curved in-at the bottom of front pad E, so as to cause a pressure in and a lifting up of the bowels. Also attached to each end, and outside of front pad E, are two straps D, running crosswise of front pad E,- serving as a slide or holder for the straps G, which pass under the straps D and outside of front pad E. Also attached to front pad E and straps D are two buckles, K, being at the lower half of front pad E, to receive the under straps H, which are attached to rings I, rings I being attached to straps G. 1 Letter 0 represents the back pad, being on the front or inside lined and stuffed, and on the back or outside are two straps, attached at each end of back pad Q in the same way as straps D are attached to front pad E, being the straps or slides the straps G pass under. Letter F represents the other side of front pad E. At the side that is curved in of front pad E, at the lower edge of front pad E, is attached ball B, ball B being the shape of a half egg, but square at the bottom. Ball 13 is attached to front pad E by three screws going through front pad- E from the front or outside of front pad E into ball B.

This truss is used as follows: The front pad E is placed on the lower part of the abdomen, so that the ball B will come directly over the orifice, just above the pelvis bone; then taking the first or lower strap G, place it around the body, and under the strap D, and outside of front pad Einto buckle P. Buckle Pbeing attached to the other end of the same strap-G, the second or upper strap G is placed around the body, and buckled in the same manner as lower strap G. Then take the straps H and draw them between the legs and into the buckles K.

, C'Zaz'm. What I claim as m invention, and wish to secure by Letters Patent, is- The front pad or plate E, provided with the rod A, auxiliary pad B, and straps D, G, and H, all constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
