TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN Be it known that I, HENRY HUMPHREY, of Adrian, in the county of Lenawee, and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Stud and Sleeve-Button Locks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being marked thereon, in which- Figure 1 is a view of the lock itself, and Figure 2 a. view of the mode of using it. , To use the locks, (the studs having been put on in the usual mannen) we place the back of the stud H, fig. 2, through the hole C in plate B, lig. 1, then, drawing the other plate A towards the other stud or button K, loop it around the shank of' that stud or button. The holes through the cuffs that `receivevthe backs of the studs or buttons are to be made round, so as to avoid soiling the cuffs in putting them on. The said locks may be used on sleeve-cuffs, shirt-bosoms, or any other plates, A and B, fig. 1, in the manner and form C, through it, sulicicntly large to receive the s, which receives the shank of the stud or button.
