The same mode of fastenings, with short chains cl d, is adapted to wristbands or eusB, as se n in iig. 10. ,Plate or hasesl), of larger size, und provided 'with broad fiat chains d d, to secure theni, con be mede of costly malteriah-,and elaborately ornornented in designs, such asbndges for various orders and societies, und may be reversed, forming a variety-from the more showy side to the les's conspicuous bar or bridge.

It will read-ily be seen that there are many advantages'in myimproved mode of fastening shirt-buttons over other devices known and used. It is conceded by all who have and still use detachable studs, 'that it is a most dilieult inatter to insert them without crushing and soiling the linen to some considerable extent when the bosonis or cu's are newly done up and sti'liy starched; and a worse feature'is that they are very liable to become unbuttoned and lost, and the sets thus broken lose their value.

By myimproved mode of fastening,` the trouble and misfortune above detailed will not be likely to occur.

What I claim as my invention, and 'esir'e to secure by Letters Patent, isf- 1. The button or stud constructed With heads e and f, connected together by posts z'z', between which are one or more eyes, substantially as and for the puposes specified.

2. I claim the chain c c, fasteningeslide of slides jj,V and bodkin h, arranged and applied for fastening buttons, subtantially as anclfor the purposes herein set {"orth.`
