Be it known that IQ' JOHANNEs HERMANN RAECKE, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Braunschweig, Germany, have invented a certain new and useful Imk proved Mouthpiece for {Cigars or Cigarettes,
of which the followingis'a description.
The present invention relates to a mouthpiece for cigars or cigarettes;. and it consists.
in the arrangement of a device for producing a sound or some other musical eifect when the mouthpiece is used.
The device is constructed so that it may be set out of operationjat will, whereupon the mouthpiece may be used in the ordinary and Fig. 6 is a cross-section on line E F of V Fig. 5.

If the mouthpiece is to be used in the ordinary manner, the ring 0 is turned in the direction of the arrow, Fig. 2, whereby the hole 6 is closed. Thus no communication between the outer air and the interior of the mouthpiece can be established, and consequently the tuning-tongue is prevented from speaking.
According to'Figs. 3 .and at the tongue I) is arranged within a mouthpiece f of the cigarette g. In this case the said mouthpiece f is provided with the hole .h, which may be opened or closed bymeans of a ring 0, hav ing a hole (1, in the same manner as described with reference to Figs. 1 and 2.
In Figs. 5 and 6 the mouthpiece f of the cigarette is provided with atube detachably arranged within the said mouthpiece f and carrying the tuning tongue I). The mouthpiece f as well as the tube '5 are provided with corresponding holes k and Z, which may beoperated for the purposes above mentioned by turning the tube 11 in a manner "similar to that described with reference to Figs. 1 and 2.
I claim as my invention- In a cigar or cigarette mouthpiece, the com- 7 bination of a sound-producing tongue mount- In Figs. 1 and 2, a, is amouthpiece for ciga' ed within the mouthpiece a lateral hole in the latter in proximity to said tongue and means for closing and opening the said hole at will substantially as described.
