Each of the grooves d, d<1>, &c., terminates against a longitudinal rib e, Fig. 2, and communicates with the adjacent grooves but on opposite sides of the rib. The development, Fig. 5, shows the course followed by the smoke. The mouthpiece draws out all deposited matter, when it is removed from the stem.
