Description

R. L. WEED.
CIGAR-PIPE. No.169,501. Patented Nov. 2, 1875.
ATTORNEYS.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
I ROBERT L. WEED, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
' IMPROVEMENT IN CIGAR-PIPES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 169,501, dated November 2, 1875; application filed November 7, 1874.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, ROBERT L. WEED, Of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Cigar-Pipe, of which the following is a specification:
This invention relates to a device to be used in smoking tobacco in places where pipes are objectionable; and consists in a hollow sec tional tube, resembling a cigar, made of wood or other suitable material, constructed substantially as hereinafter described.
1n the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a side view of the cigar-pipe. Fig. 2 is a Ion a tube, through which the smoke is drawn into the mouth, the tobacco being ignited the same as a cigar. The cigar-pipe has every appearance of a cigar when in use.
Having the middle joint a nd cavity decreasing in both directions therefrom, the tobacco may be readily compressed by the finger into both sections, so as to form a filling corresponding to that of a cigar, while the smoker can always secure and know the kind and quality of tobacco which he is about to use.
I am aware that atube in one or two parts has been heretofore used for the same purpose; but said tube is of a different shape from mine, and not "so well adapted in construction to the same purpose.
What I claim is- A two-part tobacco-pipe having a middle joint and a cavity decreasing therefrom gradually toward each end, as and for the purpose specified.
ROBERT L. WEED.
