L. a. Dum. COMBINED PIPE HOLDER AND CIGAR TRAY.
(AppliQation led July 27, 1901.)
(Np Model.)
Slimme/x34 'y UNiTnn artnr LENNA GERTRUDE DUER, OF COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO, ASSIGNOR TO MARY J. JORDAN, OF COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO.
COMBINED PIPE-HOLDER AND CIGARTRAY.
SPEGIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 695,380, dated March 11, 1902.
Application filed July Z7, 1901.
.T 1f/ZZ whom t may concern:
Beit known that I, LENNA GERTRUDE DUER,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Colorado Springs, in the county of El Paso and State of Colorado, have invented a new and useful Combined Pipe-IvIolder and Cigar-Tray for Tables or Desks, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is a combination cigarette, cigar, and pipe holder, together with a trayholder for matches, ashes, and the like.
This combination device is particularly adapted for use in connection with billiardtables and desks for the purpose of holding cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and matches and also for the purpose of receiving ashes and burned matches. A'
The invention consists also in the peculiar construction of the various parts and in their novel combination orV arrangement, all of which will be fully described hereinafter and pointed out in the claims.
`In the drawings forming part of this speciiication, Figure l is a View showing the practical application of my invention. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of a .device complete.' Fig. 3 is a side elevation, partly in section. Fig. fl is a sectional plan view, and Fig. 5 is a detail illustrating the construction of the cigarette-holder. y
. In practice I prefer to construct my invention of' stout spring-wire and sheet metal, both of which are preferably nickel-plated; but it will of course be understood that any suitable material may be employed and also any desired iinish.
In constructing a combination device in accordance with my invention I employ two stout pieces of wire A, which are bent or hooked at A', said hooked portions being intended to engage the eyes A2, screwed into the side of the table or desk. The ends of the wire A are bent horizontally outward, as shown at A3, to provide a rest for the tray B, which is made of sheet metal and soldered to the outwardlybent end A3. Intermediate the ends of the wire A it is curved outwardly, as shown at A4, for the purpose of forming a support for the plate C, upon which the cig- 5o arettes are adapted to rest. Above the curve A4 the wires A are connected by means of a smaller wire D, which is bent or looped. at D' Serial No. 69,974. (No model.)
at regular intervals, which bends or loops are intended to receive the cigarettes which rest upon the plate C. A wire E connects the curved portions A4, said wires having a series of curves or loops E', which are intended to receive the cigars to be held. The wires A are also connected by means of a wire F, which is curved intermediate its ends, as shown at F, for the purpose of forming a suitable rest for the bowls of the pipes, the ends of the wire being coiled, as shown at F2, for the purpose of holding an ash-receiver G at one end and a match-holder G at the opposite end. The rear side of the tray B has a flange B, and the forward side is also flanged, as shown at B2, said flange being eut out at regular intervals, as shown at B3, to receive the stems of the pipes. 7n
It will thus be understood that I provide an exceedingly cheap and simple combination device which can be quickly and easily attached to any billiard-table or desk now in use. The ashes from the cigar, cigarette, or 75 pipe can be put in the ash-receiver G, or, if desired, the tray can be employed for such purpose.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. In a device of' the kind described, a tray, the front flange of which is cut away at intervals, and the wire F bent to form recesses corresponding with the cut-away portions and the wires for supporting said tray, the upper ends of said wires being hooked, substantially as shown and described. p
2. In a device of the kind described, the supporting-wires having hooked upper ends, the looped cross-wire, and the supportingplate, all arranged substantially as described.
3. In a device of the kind described, the supporting-wires having hooked upper ends and the intermediate bowed portions, the connecting crosswire having loops, and the supporting-plate resting upon the bowed portions, substantially as shown and described.
