Beit known that I, Isaac NERrn ANDERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bettie,in the county of Upshur and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mop-Holders and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

The invention relates to mop-holders.

The object of the invention is to provide a mop-holderwhich shall be simple of construction, durable in use, comparatively inexpensive of production, and which will securely and simultaneously clamp the mop and the handle to the mop-head.

With these and other objects in view the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination, and arrangement of parts, Which will be hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of my improved mopholder. Fig. 2 isa vertical central cross-sectional view, and Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of th at bar of the mop-head in which are formed the handle-sockets.

In the drawings, 1 denotes the mopahead, which consists of two or more clamping-bars, (shown in the present instance as three and numbered 3, 4, and 5.) These bars are provided With aiinin g apertures through Which project bolts 6, having tighteningnuts 7. The face of one of the bars contiguous to the face of the adjacent bar is provided with one or more handle-sockets 8. In the present instance the bar 4 is shown so provided. These sockets are formed at the upper edge of the bar at the angle .formed by the meeting surfaces of the upper face and side of the bar and diverge from each other.

9 denotes a handle provided With one or more Shanks 10, corresponding in number to the sockets, and in the present instance two in number. These shanks diverge and are adapted to be inserted into the sockets after the mop material l1 is placed between the bars and before the nuts are tightened. Upon the tightening of the nuts the mop material Will be firmly clamped in place and the shanks of the handle simultaneously clamped by the innermost bar, Which when drawn toward the bar having the sockets are forced against the Shanks of the handle. It Will thus be seen that both the mop and the handle are simultaneously clamped in position.

Any suitable mop material may be usedsuch, for instance, as gunny-sacks, Waste, rope, or corn-shucks. In the present case the latter material is illustrated.

vFrom the foregoing description, taken in connection With the accompanying drawings, the construction, mode of operation, and advantages of my invention will be readily understood without requiring a more eitended explanation.

Various changes in the form, proportion, and details of construction may be made Within the scope of the invention Without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages thereof.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim7 and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

l. The combination With a mop-head, comprising clamping-bars, one of said bars being formed with a diagonal socket in its upper edge, of ahandle adapted to have a shank to fit in said socket, and means for clamping the bars together whereby the mop material and handle are simultaneously clamped into position, substantially as set forth.

2. The combination with a mop-head comprising bars, one of which is provided at its upper edge with diagonally-extending divergent sockets, of a handle having diverging shanks to engage said sockets, and bolts and nuts for clamping thebars together and thereby binding the shanks of the handle in their sockets, substantially as set forth.
