SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 689,439, dated December 2 190 Application filed March 16,1901. Serial No. 51,509. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, SAMUEL THOMAS TROTT, asubject of the King of Great Britain and Ireland, and a resident of No. 286 Hoxton street, Hoxton, London, England, have invented certain Improvements in Clips or Holders for the Fronts of Drawers, Boxes, or the Like, of which the following is a specification.
This invention refers to drawers and boxes used for holding goods or papers or the like, and is designed to supply a flexible adj ustable clip which will hold a sample of the article contained inside the receptacle or a card or ticket denoting such article.
It consists of a curved steel spring, made, preferentially, of watch-spring steel, flat steel wire, or the like, one end of which is placed inside the drawer, and being coiled or curved there exerts pressure on the other end, which passes through the front of the drawer and lies against the said front in such a way that it can be lifted or drawn outward to receive the article to be shown. To facilitate'this, its extremity is bent outward, so that it can be easily operated by the finger.
I will now describe the invention with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 shows a perspective elevation of the clip detached. Fig. 2 shows a perspective elevation of a drawer or box front with a portion of the side removed and the clip in position for use. Fig. 3 shows a section of a drawer or box front with clips holding articles on the front thereof.

It will be seenfrom an inspection of Fig.1 that the tongue b of the clip is provided with an outwardly-curved end. The back part a,
which may be regarded as the body portion,
extends at an acute angle to the said tongue and curves inwardly and thence downwardly in relation to the tongue I), so that its end rests against the rear or inner face of the tongue.
In use, as shown in Fig. 2, the tongue 1) extends through the draWer-front, its upper end curving away therefrom to receive the article to be held, while the main portion a lies within the drawer, with its curved end bear ing against the inner side of the front wall.
Fig. 3 represents articles of difierent shape and size held by the clip.
I claim as my invention A spring-clip comprising a strip of sheet metal having a tongue I) with an outwardly curved end, and a body portion at extending at an acute angle to said tongue and curving inwardly and downwardly to bring its end against the rear face of said tongue, substantiallyas described.
