ITED
JACOB A. ONDRAK, or NEW YORK, N. Y.
COMBINED ARID'INGOR cYcLmci-mslr. I
PATENT OFFICE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 689,216,'dated'1) ecember 17, 1901.
Application fi led July 8, 1901. I seas No. 97,533. (1% model.)
To all whom it may concern.- v t Be it known that I, JACOB A. ONDRAK, a citizen of--the United States, residing'at New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented'certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Riding or Cycling and Golf Habit, and I do declare the following to be .a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it an pertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to a combined riding or cycling andgolf habit, the object being to provide a divided skirt or habit which is read-' ily convertible for use for either of these purposes at will. a
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a front view of theskirt or habit as adapted for usefor horse-ridin g or cycling purposes. Fig. 2 isa similar view of the skirt as adapted for use as a golf-habit. Fig. 3 is a central vertical section through the skirt on the line as a: of Fig. 1. 4 is a horizontal section through the skirt on the line y y of Fig. 2. Fig. 5 is aplan view of the pattern of the body portion ofone section of the skirt.
' Fig. 6 is a similar view of the pattern of the insert or other portion of the section of the skirt, and Fig 7 is a view of the front flap or apron.
1 Referring now more particularly .to the drawings, the numeral 1 represents a divided skirt consisting of two sections 2 and 3, in
each of which is inserted a leg of the wearer in the usual manner, 'the inner faces of the two sections being formed with the recesses or openings 4, the edges of which are united by stitching to form the crotch. The stitching may be extended the entire distance around the meeting edges of the recesses 4 or'terminated at the lower rear portion of the front, leavingaplacket-opening,closed by a suitable flap or fiy-picce 5, as desired.
Each section of the skirt is formed of a body portion 6 and an insert 7, the edges 8 and 9 of said insert being stitched to the edges 10 and 11 of the said body portion and turned or folded over thereon, forming a loose inclosure for the leg and one side of the hip riding or cycling habit, while Fig. 2 shows' the same as adapted for use as a golf, tennis, or other like skirt. In order to enable the skirt to be used in playing golf or as a general athletic costume,I provide a flap or apron 14, which is adapted to conceal the line of demarcation or gap between the two skirt-sections 2" and 3 at the front, said apron being formed with buttonholes 15 to receive but tons 16 on the front of the skirt, whereby it is secured in position, although any other suitable type of fastening means may be employed.
A skirtor habit constructed in accordance with my invention is light, strong, and durable, neat in appearance, comfortable to the wearer, and allows free action of the limbs in cycling, walking, and athletic games.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A divided skirt consisting of sections of body portions having inserts connected to the edges thereof, turned or folded over thereon to form box-plaits and inclosures for the legs and hip portions of the wearer, the inner faces of the sections having recesses or openings connected together to form a cr0tch,said connection terminating at the lower rear portion of the front, whereby to permit of a placket-opening, a flap for closing the same, and a detachable apron connected to the front of the sections, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto'set my hand in presence of two subscribing wit- H. B. WILLSON, J. A. WILLSON.
