EXTENSION-SCREEN FOR WINDOWS OR DOORS.

Be it known that I, ABEL T. WAY, a citizen of the United States, and a. resident of Burlington, in the county of Chittenden and State .of Vermont, have invented Vcertain new and ence to the accompanyingdrawngs, forming part of this speciicatiomand will then be more particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the said drawings, Figure 1 is a view of the screen partly extended. Fig. 2 is an inner edge elevation of part of one ofthe sections of the screen. Fig. 3 is a section on line 3 3, Fig. l.. Fig.4 is a. detail of one of the clips, part of one of the top rails, and part of the angle-iron strip. , Each section of the screen is the counterpart of the other in construction, so that a description ofonewill answerffor both. l
Each section-frame is composed of an outer vertical or upright -rail A, top andbottom horizontal rails B B, and a sheet-metal angle- 1 iron strip C, which constitutes theinner vertical or upright lrail. The wire gauze or nettingD is secured to these parts. It is secured to the end upright A by a covering-strip A' in the usual way. It is secured to the top and bottom rails B by having itsedge located in a longitudinal recess b, formed in each rail, and there secured by a narrow covering-strip B' of a size to fill said recess and to be flush with the body of the.` rail B, and it is secured to the strip C in the manner indicated in Fig. 7. Having now described my improvements -and the manner in which the same are to be carried into e'lect, what I claim herein as new and lof my own inventions as follows:
1. In a two-part screen, the combination with the top, bottomand outer end rails and wire-netting on each section, of an inner end rail composed of a sheet-metal strip, bent in angle-iron form, having a limb c parallel with the face of the netting, and a foldedvlimb c which embraces between its folds the edge of the nett-ing and projects at right angles thereto toward the-face of the netting of the opposite screen-section, as and for the 'purposes hereinbefore set forth.
2. The angle-iron piecehayingafolded limb c, embracing the edge of the netti-ng, anda limb c', at right angles to said limb cand parallel with the face of the netting, said angleiron piece having flattened endportions c2, terminating in hook ends c3, in combination with the top and bottom rails B, recessed at b, and the covering-strip B', secured in recess b, and provided with slot b' having upper and lower openings b2 and b3 in which are tted the4 said hook ends c3 and flattenedend portions cl respectively, substantially as and for the purposes hereinbefore -set forth.
3. The top and bottom rails B of each screensection formed with longitudinal recesses b on their interior opposite faces to receive the netting covering-strips B', and having in their ends B2 which extend inwardly beyond the inner vertical section-rails, slots e .each of which starts from the intersection of the beck and side of its recess and extends thence out wardly .through the rail in the plane -of the back of the recess, in combination with the clips E which einbrace the edges of the rails B ot' the opposite'screensection and are provided with shahks which are inserted and secured in said slots as hereinbefore shown and described.4
