' lO-ALL WHM Il MAY CONGERN:
Be it known that I, ROBERT M. MORRIELI., of Plymouth, in the county of Marshall,- and Stateof Indiana, have invented a new and improved Clotlles-Drier; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make Vand use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a vertical section of my improved clothes-drier. i i
Figure-2 is a top view of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts.
My invention has for its object to furnish an improved clothes-drier, so constructed and arranged as to have a very large amount of drying surface in a comparatively small space, and which, when not in use, may be folded into a very small compass; and it consists in the construction of the pivoted wings, and in their com bination with the base and cap to which they are pivoted, as hereinafter more fully described A is the base of the drier, which rests upon'feet B, extended, so as to furnish a firm foundation for thedrier. C is the cap, which is connected to the base A by the standard D, to which they are secured by keys E passing through the said standard below the base A and above the cap C, or in any other secure and detachable manner. F are the wings, the inner posts f of which are pivoted at their lower and upper ends to the base A and cap C, as shown in tig. 1. The -posts fl arefsletted or grooved longitudinally `to receive the bars f2, the inner ends of which'enter the slots in the posts f1, and are pivoted to said posts, as shown in iig. 1. The outer ends of the bars f2, et'. each wing F, are connected by and are pivoted to thev posts f3, which are slotted or grooved to receive them, as shown in iig. 1. The lower ends of the posts f3 are extended downward, so that when the bars f2 are in a horizontal position the ends ot' the said posts 'f3 may rest upon thefloor. The edge of the cap C is notched just above each wing, so that the drier may be folded together into a very Small compass, by raising the outer posts f of the wings F. By this construction each wing maybe moved about its pivoting point, as convenience may require. The capacity of the drier may be increased to any desired extent by increasing the number of wings. If desired the base A and cap C may be permanently attached to the wall of tlieroom, the wings being` pivoted between them in the manner herein described; the shape of the said base and cap-being made to correspond with the position in which they are placed.
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The postsfvof thewings F, pivoted to the cap C and base A, and slotted to receive the ends of the barsfz, as herein set forth, whereby the wings F are operated independently of each other, as and for the purpose specified.
2. The combination and arrangement ofthe pivoted and slotted posts f1. removable cap C, removable baso A, and standard D, as her-ein described, for the purpose specified..
ROBERT M. MORRIELL.
