HENRY MILLINGAR, OF MEROHANTVILLE, NEW JERSEY. i
FLOWER-POT.
SPECIFICATION forming part 0f Letters Patent No. 681,066, dated. August 20, 1901.
. Application filed May 8, 1901. Serial No. 59,328. (No model.)
` chantville, in the county of Camden and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Flower-Pot, of which the following is It is the object of my invention to provide 1 an improved flower-pot for temporary use. y ro The same is constructed of light or thin flexible material, preferably strips or sheets of `wood which have a peculiar form adapting proved {lower-pot.
l them tooverlap and formatapered pot. The
details of construction are as hereinafter described, and shown in the accompanying drawings,- in which-4- Figure 1 is a perspective View of my im- Fig. 2 is a plan view of the two parts composing the body of the pot, the same being extended latwise. Fig. 3 is an enlarged section on line 3 3 of Fig. 2.
The body of the pot is formed of two wooden pieces or sheets A and B, which are of like shape and connected by a detachable fastening a, applied at the center of the square portions h, forming the bottom of the pot. Each piece A and B has two enlarged end portions or wings c, whose sides are at an angle to each other and whose ends are parallel. The said wings c are thus trapezoidal in shape, gradually increasing in width from the central portion b to the outer end. This shape is highly important, since it enables the Wings c to overlap, as shown in Fig. l, so that the pot has the desired taper. Thus in making up the pot from the parts or pieces A and B, which may be shipped or stored in the dat, the wings c are bent upward and their edges overlapped and secured by wire or other fastenings d, as shown. Then a strip C of wood or some other suitable flexible material is applied as a binding around the parts A and B adjacent to their upper edge and secured by suitable fastenings.
What I claim is- As an improved article of manufacture,
the iiower-pot composed of two thin flexible sheets, having a square central portion and trapezoidal wings or end portions, which increase in width from the middle outward, their side edges being overlapped and secured together as shown and described.
