To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, DAISEY PAUL SONNE- HILL, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Catamenial Sack, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The purpose of the invention is to provide a catamenial sack adapted for use by women, and to form the body portion of the diaper of a single piece of material or fabric so constructed that end tabs are formed and side flaps, which side flaps are designed to overlap and be secured to each other to inclose an absorbent material, rendering said absorbent material removable and the body portion of the diaper washable.

A further purpose of the invention is to provide a supporter especially adapted to the character of body portion above mentioned, which supporter admits of adjustment of the body portion and is also self-adjustable to diiferent waist measurements.

The invention consists in the novel construction and combination of the several parts, as will be hereinafter fully set forth, and pointed out in the claim.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved catamenial sack. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the supporter-section of the device, and Fig. 3 is a plan view of the body-section of the device laid flat.

The body A is constructed of afabric'-such as cotton, linen, or a like material and comprises a body 10 and tabs 11, which extend from the end portions of the body. These tabs are preferably provided with pointed outer ends 12, at which ends buttonholes 13 are worked or otherwise produced, and said tabs may be of one or of more thicknesses, as occasion may demand. The body-section 10 at each side of each tab is inclined, the inclinations of the said end portions of the body-section being outward and in direction of the central portion of said body-section, as is shown in Fig. 3. The body-section 10 is usually reinforced by hems 15 at its marof the body-section 10 at the center, extending from one tab 11 to the other. The side of the body-section containing the buttons is then carried over on the absorbent material, and the opposite side of the body-section'lO, in which the buttonholes 16 are located, is carried over the first fold, and the two longitudinal edges of the body are secured together by buttoning the parts together, as shown in Fig. 1. nipulation the body is formed into a folded section filled with absorbent material and tabs extending from the ends of the folded section.

The supporter O, which is especially adapted for use in connection with the aforesaid body portion, consists of a rear shield 18 and a front shield 19, the two shields being positively connected at the upper portion of one of their sides by an elastic band 20, while a corresponding band 21 is permanently attached to the opposite side of the rear shield 18 at its upper edge and is adapted for detachable engagement with the corresponding portion of the forward shield 19, and this dotachable engagement of the band 21 with the forward shield 19 is usually brought about by placing a button 22 at the free end of the band 21, which button is adapted to pass through a buttonhole 23, produced in the for ward shield 19.

Upon the outer face of both the rear and the forward shields one or more (preferably a multiple of) buttons 24 are secured, the buttons being placed one above the other, and these buttons 24 are adapted to pass through the buttonholes 13 in the tabs 11 of the body portion, so that the said body portion may be vertically adjusted on the shields as occasion may demand. Preferably when the supporter is worn the bands engage with the outer face of the corsets or corset-cover.

It will be understood that the holder, which is shown in detail in Fig. 3, is made ofa pervious absorbent materialsuch as cotton, linen, or the like, as before described -and comprises a body portion 10, having tabs 11 at its ends, and wings 14, which extend laterally beyond the line of the flaps, and said wings are of a width jointly exceeding the width of the tabs 11, whereby the wings can be overlapped when folded to inclose a napkin, and such wings are provided at their overlapping edges with buttons and buttonholes, constituting means whereby the wings may be connected directly together at their free edges. It will also be noticed that in use the wings and fastening devices are on the outer surface of the holder, and the napkin or other absorbent device is inclosed by the said wings.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The improvement in catamenial sack-s herein described composed of the supporter or belt having the front and rear shields, and the plurality of vertically-disposed devices for the connection of the napkin-holder, and the napkin-holder made of pervious absorbent material and comprising a body 10 and tabs 11 at the ends thereof, the body having lateral wings, beyond the tabs, of a width jointly exceeding the Width of the tabs whereby the wings can be overlapped when folded to inclose a napkin and provided at such overlapping edges with means for detachably connecting the free edges of the wings directly together, the tabs being connected adjustably with the front and rear shields of the supporter and the holder being connected to the said shields with the wings on the outer or under surface, all substantially as set forth.
