3,048,176 8/1962 De Woskin 128/288 Primary Examiner-Charles F. Rosenbaum Attorney-Milton J. Wayne 57 ABSTRACT A sanitary garment comprising a crotch section consisting of stretchable fibrous webs, fluid-repellent material which is on the inside of the stretchable fibrous webs and a non-stretchable Y-shaped tape which is shorter than the length of the stretchable fibrous webs and of the fluid-repellant material, the non-stretchable Y-shaped tape being fastened at its upper end to the front crotch seam and at its lower end to the back crotch seam.
2 Claims, 5 Drawing Figures SANITARY GARMENT This invention is concerned with a sanitary garment which secures a good fit and prevents an absorbent pad, such as a sanitary napkin, from being slipped by pressure from the thighs. More particularly, it relates to the sanitary garment characterized that the crotch section of the sanitary garment is composed of stretchable fibrous web, fluid-repellant material and non-stretchable Y-shaped tape which is shorter than the length of the stretchable fibrous web and of the fluid-repellant material, the said tape being fastened at its upper end in the front seam and at its lower end in the back crotch seam.
It has already been proposed to provide many pantytype undergarments for accommodating absorbent pads. Such undergarments have proved to be unsatisfactory, owing to the difficulty of securing a good fit and of preventing an absorbent pad from slipping by pressure from the thighs.
When a stretchable Y-shaped tape is used instead of the non-stretchable Y-shaped tape employed in this invention, it is unable to keep a worn absorbent pad in good position on the body of the wearer. When a nonstretchable straight tape is used instead of the nonstretchable Y-shaped tape employed in this invention, a worn absorbent pad, such as a sanitary napkin does not fit the body, especially around the abdomen, to a nicety as the pad is folded along the non-stretchable straight tape into V-shape.
In the accompanying drawings, in which the embodiment of this invention is illustrated.
FIG. 1 is a front view of this invention;
FIG. 2 is a back view thereof;
FIG. 3 is an enlarged view of the crotch section thereof;
FIG. 4 is a cross-section through section 4--4 of FIG.
FIG. 5 is a cross-section through section 55 of FIG. 3.
Referring to the drawings, there is indicated in FIGS. 1 to 5 the sanitary garment made in accordance with this invention. The garment consists of panels of thin stretchable fabric material 7, which may be any conventional knitted fabric such as is widely used for panty garments, for example acetate or nylon, a non-stretchable fabric material 6, which is used for corsetlike and a restraint crotch section 3. The panels of thin stretchable fabric material 7 are joined at a stitched back seam 16 and connected with the non-stretchable fabric material 6, which is in front of the garment, at a stitched front seam 17. An elastic waistband encircling the waist is indicated at 8. The crotch section is connected with the non-stretchable fabric material 6 and the thin stretchable fabric material 7 at front and back seams indicated at 14 and 15, respectively. The crotch section as shown in FIG. 5 is formed as a pocket by thin stretchable fibrous webs l0 and 11 within which are located fluid-repellant material 12 and'non-stretchable Y-shaped tape 13 which is shorter than the length of the fibrous webs 10, 1 1 and the fluid-repellant material 12. The fluid-repellant material 12 is on the inside of the fibrous web 10, and the non-stretchable Y-shaped tape 13 is between the fibrous web 11, which is brought into contact with an absorbent pad, and the fluid-repellant material 12 and fastened at its upper end to the front crotch seam 14 and at its lower end to the ba k crotch seam 15. The non-stretchable Y-shape tape used in this invention may be located inside the fluidrepellant material 12, between the material 12 and the stretchable fibrous web 10 or outside the fibrous web 10.
The garment is cut to provide leg openings, and elastic bands 9 encircle the leg openings.
The sanitary garment of this invention fastens the absorbent pad, such as a sanitary napkin which can not only be attached to a supporting belt, but also pinned to an undergannent, in good position.
We claim:
1. A sanitary panty garment comprising a non-stretchable fabric front panel having a top edge, a bottom edge and side edges;
a pair of stretchable fabric side panels having top edges aligned with said front panel top edge, rear side edges connected together at a back seam of the garment, front side edges of said front panel, and bottom edges;
a crotch section connected at its front end to said front panel bottom edge and at its rear end to said bottom edges of said side panels and comprising an outer stretchable layer extending along the entire length of said crotch section;
an inner stretchable layer extending along the entire length of said crotch section and connected to edges of said outer layer to form a pocket therebetween;
a layer of fluid-repellant material located within said pocket and extending along the entire length of said crotch section; and
a Y-shaped layer of non-stretchable tape located within said pocket and extending along the entire length of said crotch section, the single branch of said Y-shaped tape connected to said rear end of said crotch section and the double branch of said Y-shaped tape connected to said front end of said crotch section, the length of said Y-shaped tape being less than the length of either of said inner and outer stretchable layers.
2. A sanitary panty garment according to claim 1 in which said inner and outer layers are formed of stretchable fibrous web material, and said Y-shaped tape is located between said fluid-repellant material and one of said layers.
Claims (2)
1. A sanitary panty garment comprising a non-stretchable fabric front panel having a top edge, a bottom edge and side edges; a pair of stretchable fabric side panels having top edges aligned with said front panel top edge, rear side edges connected together at a back seam of the garment, front side edges of said front panel, and bottom edges; a crotch section connected at its front end to said front panel bottom edge and at its rear end to said bottom edges of said side panels and comprising an outer stretchable layer extending along the entire length of said crotch section; an inner stretchable layer extending along the entire length of said crotch section and connected to edges of said outer layer to form a pocket therebetween; a layer of fluid-repellant material located within said pocket and extending along the entire length of said crotch section; and a Y-shaped layer of non-stretchable tape located within said pocket and extending along the entire length of said crotch section, the single branch of said Y-shaped tape connected to said rear end of said crotch section and the double branch of said Y-shaped tape connected to said front end of said crotch section, the length of said Y-shaped tape being less than the length of either of said inner and outer stretchable layers.
2. A sanitary panty garment according to claim 1 in which said inner and outer layers are formed of stretchable fibrous web material, and said Y-shaped tape is located between said fluid-repellant material and one of said layers.
