CHARLES HAMILTON, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.

SELF-SUPPLYIN G MUCILAGE-BRUSH.

TO 'ALL 'IO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN Be it known that I, CHARLES HAMILTON, of New York city, in the county and State of New York, have invented anew and useful Improvement on the Self-Supplying Mucilage-Bottle. an article which has lately been introduced to the public, and on which I believe a. patent is now pending; und I do hereby declare that'the state-- mont which I hereafter make contains a full and exact description of' the construction and operation of my improvement, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making n. pnrt of this specification, in which- Figure No. 1 is a. perspective View of the bottle having the cap or brush cover attached.
Figure No. 2 is a perspective view of the cap or brush-cover.
Figure No. 3 is a perspective view of the bottle.
Figure No. i is a sectional View of the cap having my improvement attache-(l.
Figure No. 5 is a sectional view of the bottle.
Figure No. (i is n sectional view of the bottle and illustrating the elfeet of my improvement.
The self-supplying mneilage-bottle represented by fig. No. 3 is intended to be arranged so that thi, brush when in use is constantly supplied with mucilagc. The brush, which is attached to the bottle by means of a metallic screw, has a tube ruiming `through its centre, and the liquid is intended, on the bottle being turned end upward, to flow through the tube and thus supply the' brush. Each bottle is supplied with a cup or brush Vcover, represented by iig, No. 2, to protect the brush from dust or evai'ioration. lfiic bottle, with the cap or brushcover .n.ttaehod, is represented by fig. No l. A perfect obstacle against the working of' this arrangement is that the tube running through the brush becomes clogged with hardened mucilnge, and thus renders the bottle unfit for use, and it is to overcome this diiculty that my improvement is intended. 4
The nature of the device which' I now` claim as my improvement is, :in attachment to thc cup originally used of a. piece of wire running from the centre of the cap inside to an inch or so beneath its hase, as shown in iig. No. 4. By this arrangement each time the cap is put on the bottle the wire passes through the mbe of the brush and keeps it constantly clear. Fig. No. (i illustrates the working of this arrangement, A being the wire alluded to, and B the tube or passage of the brush. Although the diameter of the tube or passage ofthe brush is larger than that of the wire, yet as mucilage, when dried, is very brittle, the wire must inevitably, on being forced through the tube into the bottle, break away all incrustation. Another advantage of my imnrovement is that the wire assists in keeping the cap on the bottle, the cap without the attachment of the wire being apt to be thrown oil' by the slightest motion.
What I claim as my invention and improvement, and wish to secure by Letters Patent, is
An attachment to the cap or brush-cover now in use of a piece of wire running from the centre of tlie cap` inside to an inch or so beneath its base, the wire passing, when the cap is on the bottle, through the tu be or passage in the brush, in the mrmnerfand for the purposes vherein substantially set forth and described.
