T0 ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, ALPHONSE J. LOISEAU, of Philadelphia, in the county ot' Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and improved Machine for Cleaning and Blending Fibrons Material; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and usc the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which Figure 1 represents a longitudinal vertical section of my improved machine.
Figure 2 is a detail cross-section of the same, showing one of the separating rollers;
Figure 3 is an end view of the latter.

This invention relates to a new machine for blending and cleaning the ibres of dilTerent-colored material, which canvbe done so completely that it will appear as if the fibres had been dyed with the color in which they appear when discharged from my machine.
A represents an irregular cylinder made of wire netting, or other suitable perforated material, and having solid heads, B B, in which* the bearings for the rollers C C are arranged. The cylinder is' supported upon legs D D of suitable construction, so that it is elevated, and so that dust or dirt, which is removedfrom the fibres, may fall through its perforated bottom. At one end of this cylinderis an opening that can be closed by a door, E, opposite to which, at the other end of the cylinder, another opening with a door, F, is arranged. The rollers C C are provided with teeth, GG, which are straight and far apart when but long fibres are to be treated, and which are brought closer together the shorter the fibres of the material to be cleaned are. These teeth may be made curved, as shown in fig. 3, and, if desired., be bent in the same direction in which the axis C is placed, as shown in g. 2. The latter arrangement is only to be used in treating very strong fibre, as the teeth of one roller must actually gear into those of the' other.
The operation of the device is simple, and as follows: The material to bc 'cleaned or blended is placed into the cylinder through the door E, and the rollers, each of which is provided with a pulley, `outside of the box A, are set in motion by means of belts or other devices which connect them with a driving-shaft above, below, or at some other place, after, of course, the doors E and F have been closed. The rollers are then kept in motion. They will separate the fibres from all foreign matter. The heavy dirt will fall to the bottom, and through the meshes of the wire netting, while the light dust will, by the current of air which is created by the revolution of the shafts C C, be thrown through the meshes of the Wire netting at the sides and top of the box A. The time of operation is to'be regulated by the kind of material to be cleaned, and by its state before its insertion into the machine. After having been suiciently Cleaned the door F is opened, and the material is discharged from the box. The teeth G will then be found to have separated the libres without weakening, breaking, or shortening the same. The rollers are turned in opposite directions with the next rollers. The combination of the rollers C C C, provided with the straight or curved teeth G G, enclosed in the perforated box A, having doors E F, the whole arranged and operating as and for thc purposes herein described.
