To all whom it may concern:
.Be it known that we, RUDOLF HENRIK KJELLMAN, director, and GUSTAF LEANDER I ANDERSSON, mechanician, subjects of the King of Sweden and Norway, and residents of Handtverkaregatan 37,,Stockholm", in the Kingdom of Sweden, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin Firearms, (for which we filed applications for patents in' Sweden on the 27th day of September, 1900, under No. 1,591; in Norway on the 19th day of October, 1900, under No. 13,081.; in Denmark on the 19th-day of October, 1900, under No. 1,119; in Germany on the 24th day of October, 1900, under No. A 7,474, 11l/72 in Austria on the 22d day of October, 1900; in Hungary on the 25th day of October, 1900, under No. 14,930; in Switzerland on the 23d day of October, 1900, under No. 25,115; in France on the th day of November, 1900, under No. 293,655; in Belgium on the 27th day of October, 1900, under No. 121,017; in
Italy on the 13th day of November, 1900,
under No. 15,920; in Finland on the 16th day of November, 1900; in Spain on the 13th day of November, 1900; in Russia on the 7/20 day of November, 1900, under No. 12,530, and in Turkey on the 22d day of November, 1900, under N0. 500/476,) ofwhich the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to improvements in firearms with a View to efiecting an easy insertion of the cartridge-carrier into the (-artridge-box as well as its ready removal from the latter.
Figure 1 shows a longitudinal section of the cartridge-box with the cartridge-carrier placed therein, and Fig. 2 a transverse section of the same on line a b of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 shows the cartridge-box viewed from below, and Fig. 4 the cartridge-carrier viewed from below with its supporting-springs partly'cut away. The carrier 1 is supported. by two crossed or otherwise suitably placed shaped springs 2 2, projecting from each end of a bottom piece 3 and attached-at opposite ends of the carrier. The piece 3, which may be made in one piece with the springs, the latterbeing folded over the former,or to which the springs may be specially attached, engageswith its 1 j ends in grooves 4 orin notches or between lugs or the like on the end walls of the car'-' tridge-box 5, and its length is so gaged that it forms an inwardly-curved are, thus form-" ing a spring, which is kept in a state of tension between the ends of the box. If one end of the spring 3 is pressed into the box by one finger, as indicated by dotted lines, the other end of the spring thereby will become d'isen-f gaged from the box and drop out of the latter, it being afterward easy to remove partsfl, 2,
and 3from the box. When theyare to be in-' serted, the carrier is put in first, then one end of spring 3 is inserted into the recess provided for it in the box, and, finally, end of the spring 3 is pushed into at the other end of the box. sure acting from above the spring 3 rests perthe recess fectly secure in the box 5; but from below it can be readily disengaged by the simple ma-- nipulation described.- The spring 2 3 and the carrier can also be easily disengaged from each other. For this purpose one spring end 6 is shaped as a hook and inserted through the other Against presan eye or loop 7 on the carrier, and the other spring end 8 is provided with a slot 9 larger at one end, so as to admit of thesaid spring end being slipped onto a stud 10, secured to the carrier 1 and provided with a head. When the spring is to be disengaged, one of its ends 8 is first unhooked from the stud l0, and the spring is subsequently swungfinto the dotted position, Fig. 4E, and finally unhooked from the eye 7. The slot 9 permits a shifting of the spring on the stud in its usual yielding action cartridge-box and its ends engaging with re-' oux namesin the presence of twdljis k psoribmg cesses or notches in the said walls, from which Witnesses.
it; can be urlhooked by applying a pressure upon it from below, or into which it can be RUDOLP HENRIK KJELLMAN' inserted irom below, all with a View to aceoin- GUSTAF LEANDER ANDERSSON" plishing a'ready insertion and removal of the Witnesses: springs and cartridge-carrier. ERNST SVANQVIST,
In Witness whereof We have hereunto signed AUG. SORENSEN.
