The manneref using and operating -my improved Acarpet-stretcher und tack-driver is to catch -the carpet bythe teeth and push it to its place, dropping the tack point downwurdinto the open enduof the tack-conductor `C, andthen, on drawing the plunger up by the cord, the tuck' fallsl .into the jatwswhcn,.on letting free the' cord, the tack is driven by' the recoil of the spring andthe plunger home into the floor.

What I now cla-im as my invention and improvement is- 1. The combination of the inclined carpet-stretcher withthe 'vertical column and tnclidri'ving apparatus, arranged and operating in the nmnner and for the purposes described.

2. The combination of thetnek-conducting tube and the cord and pulleys with the inclined shaft eudwrerti-A c al column, arranged and operating in the manner and for the purposes'described.
