Letters Patent No. 67,124, dated Tidy 23, 1867.

IMPROVED SHELF-BRACKET.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that I, CHARLES F. KUIINLE, of the city of IVashington, in the District of Columbia, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Brackets for Shelves; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full and correct description of the same, sulicient to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to understand and make the same, reference being hsd'to the accompanying drawings, which make part of this specification, and in which- Figures 1 and 2 are rear and front perspective views of my improved bracket, and

Figure 3 is a sectional view showing a shelf,` resting on my improved bracket.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.

The nature of my invention consists in an improvement on the bracket for which Letters Patent were granted me'August 15, 1865, in which case at least four brackets had to be used for every shelf. My improvement consists in so connecting the two or more brackets used on each side. as to form one long bracket, which can be cheaper and will be stronger than the single brackets alone.

A, in the drawings, represents the bracket, constructed of the horizontal piece a and vertical piece a', which are at right angles to each other, and are braced by the supports b. On the back` of the piece a', and flush with the piece a, ure formed two or more projections c, and at right angles to these projections, and directly over them and in line with the piece a', flanges d are formed on the piece a. These projections and anges serve the purposesalready specified in my former patent. My improved bracket is cast or otherwise formed in one piece, and may be made of any length or size desired, and any number above two, of projections c, flanges d, and supports b, may be used, in order to give sufficient strength to the bracket. The flangesdare in this case shown as of a height equal to the thickness of the shelf, but they maybe made smaller so as to fit into'irecessesin the ends of the shelf, and thus prevent lateral movement of the same.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

'.lhe bracket A, consisting of the pieces a a at right angles to each other, braced by supports b, and provided with two or more projections c, and auges d, substantially as described.
