ADOLPH L. GAYLER, OF KENSINGTON, CONNECTICUT.
SHAVlNG-CU P.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters ?&tent No. 669,920, dated March 12, 1901.
Application filed August 3, 1899. Serial No. 725,984. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ADOLPH L. GAYLER, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Kensington, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, (post-office address in Kensington, I Iartford county, Connecticut,) have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Lather-Brushes and Boxes Therefor, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is side View of a box and brush embodying said improvement. Fig. 2 is a view in central vertical section of the parts shown in Fig. 1, the brush uncut by the section.
The object of the improvement is the production of a device which embodies therein a soap-box, a case for containing the brush, and the brush itself, having features of novelty and advantage.
In the accompanying drawings the letter a denotes the box-body, and 1) denotes the boxcover, which is fiat outside and may be removably attached to the box-body in any convenient way. In the lower part of the interior of the box-body there is a soap-space, and the letter 0 denotes soap therein.
The letter cl denotes the lather brush. When the device is not in use, the brush is removably attached to and supported by the box-cover in some suitable manner, preferably by having the upper end of the brushhandle reduced and exteriorly screw-threaded, and thereby adapted for screwing into a suitable female thread made in a socket in the box-cover.
When the parts are in the position and adjustment illustrated in the drawings and so far described, the soap and brush are both carried entirely within the box, with the brush safely out of contact with the soap.
When the user would make use of the device, he opens the box by removing the cover, detaches the brush from the box-cover, and proceeds with his lather-making and latherusing operations, after which the superfluous lather can be emptied out, the brush can be reattached to the box-cover, and the box.
closed, and the device will then be in handy shape and of convenient contour for transportation. WVhen the parts are thus arranged and the box closed, the soap and the lather are fully protected and the whole device can be transported in any manner without harm to itself or to surrounding things.
I claim as my improvement- 1. A box having a removable cover; combined with a brush whose bristles and handle are of a size to be entirely contained within the box, and means for removably attaching the upper end of said handle to the cover by application to the interior of the latter, as and for the purpose set forth.
2. A box having a removable cover exteriorly flatand provided interiorly with a threaded socket; combined with a brush whose handle is reduced and threaded at its upper end so as to removably engage said socket, said brush being of such a size and length that when the parts are in place it will be entirely contained within the box with its lower end above the bottom thereof, all substantially as described. ADOLPI-I L. GAYLER.
