GATE.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN 1 Be it known that I, HlIRAM TURNER, of Ripon, in the county of Fond du Lee, and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and useful improvement in Gate; and I do hereby declare that' the following is a full, clear, and
exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to theaccompanyin-g'drawingsforming part of this specification, in which i Figure 1 is a side view of my improved gate.

My invention has for its object to furnish an improved gate, strong and simple in construction, and which may be easily adjusted to swing at any height to pass oqver mud, snow, or other obstructions; and it consists in the combinationof the hinged part or crane and adjustable part with each other, as hereinafter more fully described.
A is the rear gate-post, to which the gate is connected by ordinary hinges; B is the hinged part or crane of the gate, to the vertical bar I of which the hinges are attached. bare, the inclined bars, the rear ends of which are secured to the lower end of the bar 6 by a bolt or in some other substantial manner. 6 are the upper horizontal bars, the rear ends of which are secured to the bar 6 and their forward-ends to the forward ends of the inclined bars 6 b are intermediate horizontal bars, the rear ends of which are attached to the sides of the bar I), and their forward ends are attached to the inclined bars 6 The bars 6 b and 6* are attached to both sides of the bar I), so. as to leave an opening and space between them for the reception of the part 0 of the gate. The front part or body C ofthe gateis made in the form of'a trapezoid, the' -front and rear cross-bars being at an angle with each'other, as shown in fig. 1. The part 0 is strengthened by brace-bars c crossing the horizontal bars in an inclined position, as shown in fig. 1. The part 0 is secured to the crane B bytwo bolts '1) and E, the lower bolt D passing through the lower rear corner of the part 0, and'through the inclined bars 6. The upper bolt E passes through the forward ends of the inclined bars 12', and through a hole or slot formed in the part0, or through the space between the horizontal bars of said part. Several holes may be made for the bolts D and E, so that the part 0 may be adjusted in any position circumstances may require.
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent The combination of the hinged part or crane B and adjustable part Owith each other, said parts being constructed and arranged substantially in the manner herein shown and described HIRAM TURNER.
