Description
COMPOSITIONS,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
; THEODOR WEYL, OF CHARLOTTENBURG, GERMAIIY.
OZONlZED-SOAP PREPARATION.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 652,826, dated July 3, 1900. Application filed May 22, 1899. Serial No. 717,818- (No specimens.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Beit known that I, Tnnonon WEYL, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at 5 Oarmerstrasse, Charlottenburg, in the Kingdom of Prussia, German Empire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toilet Preparations; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention refers to compounds having disinfecting and cosmetic properties, which are obtained by the action of ozone upon soaps.
The compounds are obtained by treating soap paste, soap solutions, or soap emulsions with ozone until the absorption of the gas ceases.
The process is carried on as follows: Soap paste or a solution of soap in any suitable dissolvent is made, and through this solution ozone gas or ozonized air obtained in the usual way is allowed to pass. By way of an example a solution of one hundred grams of soa in five kilograms of Water is treated Wit 1 ozone for half an hour.- Ks soon as the absorption of the ozone ceases the process is completed. The right time for interrupting the process is fixed by subjecting the gas issuing from the liquid to any one of the usual methods of 30.
investigation.
Instead of soap paste or a solution of soap a mixture of soap with liquid bodies-for instance, a soap emulsion-can be used.
The properties of the compounds obtained 5 vary according to the materials chosen for the production. The product obtained from soap paste possesses a jelly-like consistency. The product obtained from soap solution is a solution. The product obtained from soap 4o emulsion is an emulsion. All these products show the usual reactions of ozone.
I claim- 1. A toilet article consisting of a preparation of soap impregnated with ozone. 5 2. A toilet article consisting of a liquid preparation of soap impregnated with ozone.
3. A toilet article consisting of a soap solution impregnated with ozone.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my sig- 5o nature in presence of two witnesses.
THEODOR WEYL.
Witnesses WOLDEMAR HAUPT, HENRY HASPER.
