SHOE-LAST.
Speccation of Letters Patent No. 6,381, dated April 24, 1849.
with, the object of the zinc is to strengthen the last and make it more durable.
To enable others skilled-in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction, and operation; I construct my self directing last, with two screws No. 1 at the top or center of foot or last, and
No. 2 -at the top of block, both screws are turned by a key made for that purpose, by turning the key to the left, it will swell the last to any required thickness, No. 3J; inch block counter sunk commencing near at screw No. 2 and running toward screw No. l, (is attached to No. 1 by a piece of brass, and No. l runs in through the brass with the head of the screw countersunk).
IVhat I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- The employment of the extra, screw No. l, for expanding the uppers over the ball of the foot in the manner and for the purpose herein described and represented.
