rl() ALL PERSONS TO WIIOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME:
Be it known that I, AARON S. IIADLEY, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk, and State of Massachusetts,
have invented an improved Furniture Duster-and do hereb)7 declare the same to be fully described in the fol.
lowing specification, and represented in the accompanying drawings, of which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of it.
Figure a side view ef its stock.
Figure Si is a longitudinal section of the dustetg'snch section exhibitingthe arrangement of woollen yarns in the handle, and its lexile arms.
'lhe new or improved dustcr is designed as a substitute for what is termed a feather duster," that is, a fnrnituri` (luster composed of feathers and a handle, the feathers in a mass being fastened at their larger ends to the handle. )Iy new dnster ean he made at a much less cost than a feather duster of the same size, and in several respects is a better article. After its dusting material may have beeoteworn .so as to be unserviceable it ma be renmred from the steelt` anda fresh amount may be substituted therein for it..
ln the drawings, denotes the stock, it being composed of a handle, a, and aseries of llexile arms, bbb, the latter being fastened to and extending from the handle near one end of it. On this end a disk or spreader, f'. is fixed, theseveral arms being fastened to it at its circumference. Each of the arms, as well as that part ol' the handle which is contiguous to the arms, is perforated with a series of holes, (Z d d, into each of which a series, e. of strands of woollen yarn, or other proper substitute. is to be drawn, so asV to iill the hole and project therefrom in oppositel directions, as shown in the drawings. The yarns extending through the holes of the handle` serve to eurer the spreader and the upper ends of the ilexile arms, and constitute a finish to the article. 'lhe tlexile arms maybe strips of leather or other suitable material, the whole constituting` au excellent duster or brush for removing dust from furniture or other matters or articles. .l
l do not elaim as my inventlon the furniture duster as described in the Unit-ed States Patent No. 47.318, dated April S, 1565, my invention being an improvement with reference thereto.
I claim the combination as well as the arrangement of the spreader with the handle, the ilexile arms, and masses of fibrous material applied to and arranged with such arms, or to them and the handle, substantially as specified. Y V
I also claim the combination of t-he tinishing masses of fibrous material, extending through the handle with the llexile arms, or the same and the spreader. and the masses of yarns or fibrous material arranged within such arms, as'explained. A
