IMPROVEDMETALLIG BLIND-SLAT'GLASP AND PIVOT.
, 'dilgz fitlgrhulerefmch in in flgtse infers @ntontmxh inning hint at the-same. I
TO ALL WHOMl-T MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, Gnonon R. -CLARKE, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented inert and useful Metallic Clasp and Pivot'for Blind-Slots and I do hereby declare the i'ollon'ing t'o ben. full, clear, and exact description of the constrnction and operdtion of the same, reference-being had to the accompanying drawings, making it part-oi. this specification, in wvhich- Figure I is a perspective view showing the entire clasp ready for use.
Figure II is an inside view;
Figure III is a. longitudinal section.
.The metallic 'clesp a and pivot]; consists of a cap of tin or other metah of a size to fit: the slat to which in is to he applied-,having a circular hole in the centre of 'its top yandof o. hollow pin, 6, of brass. squore for about half its length, and round'the remainder thereof, having two tongues, d, a quarter an infill a by less, in length, forming continuations oftwo opposite sidesof its'square end.
Constmctz'on and Operation.
The clasp and pivot may be made ofa'riy size, core being takento preserve the proportions of its parts. The round end of the pin 6 being passed through the hole in the top of the cap a, which is just large enough to roceive'it, is pressed up until its square base, which is proportioned to fit closely the inside of the eap'a, is in place, when the two tongues cl are passed through slots 0, cut in the sidcs of the cop a to receive them, and then pressed down to fit closely to the outer sides of thecap; when the clasp and pivot is read vf r 5, and, being 'zipplied to the end of the slat, is driven on, holding the slat firinly, and requiring no additional fastening whatever. The merits of the clasp and pivot are that it prevents longitudinal split-ting of the slut, and furnishes a pivot of great durability and strength for the slot to turn on;
What I claimfas my invention, 'and desire. to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The metallic clasp a and pivot 7|, combined for blind-slats as a. new article of mauufactnre.
