YVILLIAM E. KRUMROY, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
BAKERS OVEN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 622,499, dated April 4, 1899.
v Application filed July A15, 1898. Serial No; 686,177. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern,.-
Beit known that I, WILLIAM E. KRUMROY, a citizen of the United States of America,- and a resident of Cleveland, county of Cuyahoga, and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bakers Ovens, of which the'following is a specication.
This invention relates to bakers ovens; and it consists in the new constructionand combinations of parts adapted for the purpose, substantially as hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure lis a front elevation of the oven. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section on lines 2 2, Figs. 3, 4, 5, and '(3. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section on line 3 3, Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a horizontal section on line 4 4, Fig. 2. Fig. 5 is a vertical section on line 5 5, Fig. 2. Fig. 6 is a vertical section on line G 6, Fig. 2. A
A represents a base of brickwork, having two fireplaces A/ A at the rear end and connected `with arch flues A2 A2, extending to the front and there connected with two upright flues A3 A3, which communicate with the space over the oven, as shown by the ar rows in Fig. 2.
B represents the bottom of the oven, which consists of a metal plate supported in the side walls of the masonry alittle above the top of the arches. C represents the top plate of the oven, which also consists of a metal plate supported in the side walls of the masonry. The space above the said top oven-plate and the space beneath the oven are connected by a vertical iiue D, and the forward end of said space beneath the oven is connected by a central downward flue E with a cross-flue F, from which the heat and gases find exit and are conveyed by any suitable means to a chimney. This description corresponds with that of Patent No. 005,900, dated June .21, 1898, and patent allowedJanuary 28, 1898,
and is introduced here to show its connection with the new matter comprising this improvement, described as follows: It is found in the said ovens that the heat is too great at the back end and that the back part of the oven becomes over-heated and is liable to burn the contents. he present improvement is intended to obviate this defect, to accomplish which a vertical wall G, of brick or other suitable material, is provided in the back of the oven a short distance from the metal end, making a narrow space II across from side to side and also providing a few openings I I in the side walls in communication with said space, thus providing an air-space connected with the outside air, the effect of which is to moderate the heat that passes down the back, and thereby providing a uniformity of heat throughout the whole oven.
Having described my improvement, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
In a bakers oven, a baseA of masonry, two fireplaces A A' at the rear, and arch flues A2 A2 extending to the front, upright flues A2 AJ connecting the space over the oven with the said tlues A2 A2, the oven bottom plate I3 sup; ported in the side walls, oven top plate C also supported in the side walls, the vertical flue D connecting the space above and beneath the oven at the back end, a vertical wall Gr, near the back end of the oven, a chamber II between said wall G and the back plate of the oven, openings I I in the sidewalls forming open communications with said chamber II and the outer air, all constructed to operate substantially as and for the purpose specified.
Signed by me this 14th day of July, 1898.
WILLIAM E. KRUMROY.
