UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
VERNER NEUHS, OF CLEVELAND, OIIIO.
eAKER's OVEN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 628,488, dated July 1 1, 1899.
Application led July S0, 1898. SerialNo. 687,375. (No model.)
l State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bakers Ovens, of which the following is a specification. y
This'invention relates to bakers ovens and it consists in the new constructions and com# binations of parts adapted for such purposes, substantially as hereinafter pointed out in the description and claim..
In the accompanying drawings, Figure lis a front elevation of the new oven. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section on line 2 2 on Fig. l, showing theV course of the heat-iiues under and around the oven. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section on line 3 3 on Fig. 2. Fig. 4is a horizontal section on line 4 4 on Fig. 2. Fig. 5 is a vertical section on line 5 5 on Fig. 4.
A represents the base portion of the brickwork, having a fireplace A at the front and central part. There may be two iireplaces, if desired, but one is preferable.
B B are tlues, one at each side of the fireplace, leading from the back thereof and for- 'ward to the front, as shown by the arrows,
and thence upward in the vertical fiues B B' (seen in Fig. 4) at each side of the oven-door.
C'is the oven, composed of two metal plates D and E, supported in the side walls of the masonry. The top of the oven consists of a plate E', supported on the end and side walls and may be covered with sand or brick.
F is a space under the oven, and Gis a space over the oven, and they are connected at the back by a vertical space H. The lues B lead into the said space G over the oven at the front, as indicated by the arrows a, Fig. 2. From then ce the heat passes down at the back iiue H into the spaceF under the oven, thence down the vertical flues I I at the front corners of the masonry, (indicated by 'the a1'- rows c' i, Fig. 4,) also into a central iiue J, which leads to one side, and downward into the base-lines K K, (shown in Figs. 2, 4, and 5,) which lead to and discharge at the rearor other convenient part. The fire-grates are supported on a carriage L, which maybe run into and withdrawn from the ash-pit through the ash-pit door.
Having described my invention, what I claim is- In a bakersoven, a base A of masonry, a fireplace A' at the front, side iiues B B, connected with the back of the iireplace and leading forward at each side of the fireplace, inv
combination with the forward vertical iiues B B', leading from said side tlues upward to and into the space over the oven, a space II at the back of the oven connecting the space vCr over the oven with the space F under the oven, vertical lues I I, at the front corners of the masonry, and the central flue J, said lues I I and J leading from the space under the oven into the diagonal ues K K in the lower part of the masonry, which meet and discharge at the one outlet at the rear, substantially as described.A
Signed by me, at Cleveland, Ohio,'this 23d day of July, 1898. y
