Description

\ Patented Mar. 2|,'|899. H. LEIDENFRUST. I DEVICE FIJB RAISING DOORS UPUN THEIR HINGES.
. (Application filed Mar. 12, 1898.)
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HERMANN LEIDENFROST, F ERFURT, GERMANY.
DEVICE FOR RAISING DOORS UPON THEIR HINGES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 621,685, dated March 21, 18 99. Application filed March 12, 1898. Serial No. 673,614. (No model.)
T 0 aZZ 1071,0717, it may concern.-
Be it known that LHERMAN LEIDENFROST, clerk, a subject of the King of Prussia, Emperor of Germany, residing at Erfurt, in the Kingdom of Prussia and German Empire,
have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Raising Doors upon their Hinges, of which the following i a specification.
My invention relates to a device for raising doors in order to oil their hinges or for other purposes.
The accompanying drawings illustrate the device according tothe present invention, in Figures 1 and 2 in front elevation and in Fig. 3 in side elevation.
The device consists of an angle-piece 1 l, with an adjustable lever 3 hinged to it at 2. The shorter arm of'this lever is provided at its end 4, which is bifurcated, with a roller5. The longer arm terminates in ahandle 6. The oscillations of the lever 3 about the pin 2, secured to the angle-piece 1, are limited by stops 7 and 8 on said angle-piece.
The door 9 is raised by placing the lever 3 against the stop 8 and the angle-piece 1 with its horizontal portion 1 under the door, as shown in Fig. 1. Then the lever 3 is turned by means of the handle 6 and applied against the stop 7, whereby the door is sufficiently raised to enable its hinges to be lubricated;
I The lever being adj ustably arranged the door can be lifted as high as desired off the ground.
Owing to the arrangement of the roller 5 and of the long arm provided with the handle 6 only a slight amountof force is required even to raise a heavy door. The fioor is also not injured. The handle 6 maybe provided with an eye 10 for the purpose of hanging up the device. Having now particularly described and as- 1- being provided with stops 7 and S for limiting the movement of the lever 3, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
lIERMANN LEIDENFROST.
