TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that I, EUGENE J. POST, ofV the village of Vienna, in the county of Warren', in the State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and' useful improvements in the Apparatus for Holding and Preserving Hats when not in use, and the application thereof; and the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification. v

The object of my invention is to furnish a cheap, durable, and substantial apparatus for the purpose of preserving and holdin-g hats when .not in use in halls,offices, wardrobes, and lother places where the hat might be blown, thrown, or knocked-dowm'forming, when used in combination with the coat hook, a certain and perfect hat holder, as the hat must be lifted bodily out of the holder before it can be removed.

`My invention consists in forming' a curve or ledge ofl wire, metal, or cleats of wood of suitable former device to support the hat by the brim, to be attached to or in combination with a coat hook, hinged or stationary. To enable others skilled. in the art to make and use myinvention, I will describe it more fully, referring to the drawings and to the letters marked thereon.

It will readily be seen that the advantages to be-dcrived from the use of my invention in regard to comfort,

and the care andv preservation of hats' are innumerable. In halls, rooms, or oiees, by the use of my invention,

the/hat is perfectly secure, not liable to be knocked down by others,'cannot be' blown down, and, by the peculiar shape and action of the hatholder, neither roughing the nap or wearingnpon the hat. Y Y

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,:is- I claim the arrangement and combination of the hat-holder and preserver with thecoat hookiand bracket, whether stationary or adjustable, substantially as and for the purposes'hcrein set forth.
