WRINGER ATTACHMENT FOR TUBS.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 615,841, dated December 13, 1898.

Be it known that I, WILLIAM GENDER, of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of WVisconsimhave invented certain new tlld useful Improvements in Wringer Attach- .lents for Tubs; and I do hereby declare that ;he following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make md use the same, reference being had to the tccompanying drawings, and to the letters of eference marked thereon, which form a part )f this specification.

The main objects of my invention are to proide forfastening wringers to tubs and to void bending or injuring the rims or sides of he tubs by attaching wringers thereto.

In the accompanying drawings like letters esignate the same parts in both figures.

Figure 1 is a Vertical section showing my ziproved attachment as employed for fastenmg a wringer to a metal tub, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the wringer attachment.

The attachment consists of two blocks A A,

made of wood or any other similar or suitable They are concentrically curved to correspond with the curvature of the side of a tub to which they are to be applied, the conveX side of the inner block fitting the concave side of the outer block. The two blocks are flexibly connected at their upper edges by one or more, preferably two, loops or bands B B, which may be made of rubber and are riveted or otherwise attached at their ends to the outer sides of the blocks, which are recessed to receive them.

The blocks of my attachment are in practical use placed over the rim of the tub, embracing the side below the rim,and the wringer is clamped thereto, as shown in Fig. 1. The blocks thus afford a convenient foundation for the engagement of the clamps of the wringer and also prevent the clamps from bending, breaking, mutilating, or injuring the side or rim of the tub.

While the device is particularly designed for and adapted for use with metallic tubs, it may be used With advantage in connection with paper, fiber, or other tubs, which would be liable to injury by the direct application thereto of the Wringer-clamps. It is also adapted for use with the various kinds of wringers in common use, which are provided with various kinds of fastenings for clamping them to ordinary tubs, and therefore I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself in the application of the attachment to any particular kind of Wringer or tub. An ordinary Wringer provided with a common clamping device is shown merely for the purpose of illustrating the mode of using my attachment.

I claim- 1. An attachment for fastening wringers to tubs consisting of a pair of blocks adapted to embrace the side of a tub and connected at their upper edges by a flexible loop or band, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.

2. An attachment for fastening wringers to tubs, consisting of a pair of curved blocks adapted to embrace the side of a tub, and connected at their upper edges by a flexible loop or band attached to their outer faces, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.

3. An attachment for fastening wringers to metallic and other tubs and for protecting the sides of the tubs, consisting of a pair of blocks curved to conform with the side of a tub and flexibly connected at their upper edges by a rubber band or loop, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.

It is hereby certified that the name of the patentee in Letters Patent No. 615,841, granted December 13, 1898, for animprovement in Wringer Attachments for Tubs, was erroneously written and printed William Gender, whereas said name should have been written and printed William Gender; and that the said Letters Patent should be read with this correction therein that the same may conform to the record of the case in the Patent Office.
