In the drawings, it indicates a strap pro vided with a series of suitable buckle-holes 5. One end of strap 4 is doubled upon itself to form a loop 6, the doubled end being held in place by a suitablerivet 7. Mounted within the loop 6 are two buckles 8 and 9, the said buckles being of any well-known form. Strap 4 is doubled upon itself and passed through the buckle 8, so as to formaloop 10, in which is received the usual ring 11, carried by the lower end of one hame 12. The strap 4 is then passed around a roller 13, carried by one end of a hook 14, doubled upon itself, and passed through the buckle 9. In order to prevent the strap from being accidentally withdrawn through the buckle 9 and thus allow the hook to drop therefrom, the said strap 4 is broadened at its end, so as to form a tab 15,

or a separate tab 16 is secured thereto, the said tab being slightly broader than the opening through the buckle. The said tab may be passed through the buckle, however, by being first doubled upon itself in a plane at right angles to the strap.

The hook 14:, already described, is adapted to engage the ring 11 of the hame 12.

In order to form a keeper for the free end of the strap at, I secure to the under side of the loop 6, by means of the rivet 7, a plate 17. Plate 17 is provided at one end with an upturned portion 18, which lies up along the edge of the strap a, thus holding the plate squarely across the strap. The free end of the plate 17 is doubled back upon itself across the strap, so as to form a spring-finger 19, the outer end of which is bent upward and outward, so as to form a space 20, into which the free end of the strap may be inserted by forcing the spring-lip downward.

It will be noticed that in operation a pull upon the free end of the strap 4 will tend to pull the lower ends of the hames together equally, not to pull one haine toward the other, as is the case in the straps now commonly in use. It will also be noticed that by slightly loosening the strap 4 and allowing it to pass back a short distance through the buckle 9 the hook will either fall from or may be easily removed from the ring 11, it being unnecessary to entirely remove the strap from the buckle. It is evident, therefore,that the device maybe easily and quickly operated even by a person whose hands are stiff from cold. The strap is intended more especially for use in connection with workharness, and this feature of ease of operation by persons whose hands are cold and stiff is especially desirable.

I claim as my invention 1. A hame-strap having a loop 6 formed in one end thereof, two buckles 8 and 9 mounted in said loop, the arrangement being such that the strap may be doubled upon itself and passed through the buckle 8 to form a loop 10, and may be a second time doubled upon itself and passed through the buckle 9 to form a loop, a roller 13 mounted in said loop, and a hook carried by said roller, all substantially as and for the purpose set forth. 2. A hame-strap having a loop 6 formed in one end thereof, two buckles 8 and 9 mounted in said'loop, the arrangement being such that the strap may be doubled upon itself and passed through the buckle 8 to form a loop 10, and may be again doubled upon itself and passed through the buckle 9 to form a second loop, a hook mounted in said second loop, and a spring-clip 17 secured in position to receive the free end of the strap, the said clip having a finger 19 the free end of which is bent down to partially close the entrance to the clip, substantially as and for the pur pose set forth.
