SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 611,227, dated September 27, 1898. Application filed February 10, 1897. $erial No. 622 ,791. (No model.)
To a whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE S. ABRAHAM, a
citizen of the United States, residing at Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Silk-Holders; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which'it' appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this'speciflcation. p
The object of my invention is to provide or construct a cover or protector for silk-skeins in which a large portion of skein can be exhibited, also to allow each thread to be with drawn when required and not entangle the balance.
My invention will be more clearly understood by referring to the accompanying drawe ings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective View of my improved silk-skein cover or protector. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same, showing the cover opened to exhibit the silk-skein contained therein Fig. 3 is a perspective view.
showing outside cover or tube for exposing skein for exhibition. Fig. 4 is a perspective view showing cover opened for receiving skein. Fig. 5 is a perspective view showing manner of folding cover over skein. Fig. 6
is a perspective view showing cover folded over skein and ready to receive tube or cover to completely cover balance of skein.
In the said drawings the reference-letter A designates a rectangular holder having the sides adapted to be folded inwardly, so as to overlap each other when so folded and each over and beyond said slits.
side divided by a slit into portions B and O and Fand G, and the end of the holder which is comprisedof the sides B and O, which are folded over the skein D, being again folded The sides F and G are then folded over this free end and overlapping at the edge, as seen more clearly in Fig. 6. The skein, which is folded over upon itself at or near the center, is located in said holder with one end projecting therefrom, and at said projecting end is provided with a paper loop I, engaging with such projecting end.
This loop at its outer end is provided with a crossrpiece J, forming a handle or means for-withdrawing the skein from the holder.
7 The letter K indicates an open-ended tube which telescopes over said holder.
Having thus fully described my invention, What I claim is V A holder comprising the rectangular strip A, having the sides adapted to be folded inwardly, the edges of the sides when so folded overlapping, and eachside divided by a slit into the portions 13 and G and F and G, and
