NITED STATES' ;ATEN Erica ROBERT S. GANOUNG, OF SENECA FALLS, 'NEW YORK.
TABLE AND DRAPERY-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 610,441, dated September 6, 1898; Application filed March 3, 1898. Serial No. 672,&28. (No model.)
To all whom it may coi werm- Be it known that I, ROBERT S. GANOUNG, of Seneca Falls, in the County of Seneca and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Table and Drapery-Holdegof which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates'particularly to devices adapted for connection with a table for supporting a canopy or drapery over the same while thetable is supporting a burial-oasket and the object is to provide a device of this character which may be easily adjusted as to height and width and also to so construct it that its several parts are detaclable, so that the whole device, with the table-legs, may be packed in the table-top.
I will describe a table and drapery-holder embodying my invention, and then point out the novel features in the appended claim.
Reference is to be had to the acconpanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
-Fgure 1 is a front elevation of a table and drapery holder embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a sectional detail. Fig. 3 is a partial section and partial plan of an adjustable arn employed. Figg 4 is a sectional detail showing a table-leg as renovably connected to the table-top, and Fig. 5 is a section on the line 5 5 of Fig. 2.
'The table comprises a top 1, side rails 2, and end rails 3. Legs 4 are removably attached to the table. As here shown, the legs have tenons at the upper end to engage insockets formed in corner-blocks 5; but other means may be employed for attaching the legssuch, for instance, as braces and set-screws.
A canopy-supporting rod G is horizontally' adjustable in the table. As here shown, this rod 6 is extended through a sleeve 7, attached to the back rail of the table, and is held as adjusted by means of a set-screw 8. To prevent the rod from turning, it is made fiat on its upper side, and the opening through the sleeve 7 is correspondingly shaped. 'Adjustably connected to the rod 6 is a standard comprising telescopic sections 9 10. The section 9 is movable through a hole in the rod 6 and is held as adjusted by a set-screw 12, and the justable vertically and horizontally and held as adjusted by means of a set-screw 18. The section 10 of the standard is also provided with oppositely-extended tubular arms 19 20,
in`which angle-arms 21 are vertically and horizontally adj ustable and held by set-screws 22. Mounted to slide on the section lO of the standard are brackets 23 24, each one of which supports a swinging arm 25, having a hook end, and the brackets are held as adjusted by means of set-screws. The arms 25 are to be used for supporting wreaths,`fiowers, or the like. In use the standardand the several arms are to be properly adjusted, and
then the canopy is to be draped thereon( XVhen not in use, the several parts of the support may be separated and, with the tablelegs and canopy, packed in the box-like tabletop.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patenta- The combination with a table adapted to support a burial-casket, of a sleeve attached tothe back rail of the table, a -rod adjustable through said sleeve, the said rod being flat on one side to engage a flattened portion in the sleeve, a standard adjustable vertically with relation to the sleeve and consisting of telescopio sections, a bracket on the upper section of the standard, the said bracket having a horizontal portion between two vertical portions whereby it is projected over the table and arms on the standard, the said arms having portions eXtended forward over the table.
ROBERT s. GANOUNG.
