Description

No. 609 390, I Patented Aug. I6, I898.
c. HDLLSTEIN.
GAME APPARATUS; (Applicati'qli-filed Feb 5, 18981) (No Model.)
IN VENTOR ATTORNEYS. v
UNlTED STATES rice.
lPATENT CARL HOLLSTEIN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR, BY DIRECT AND MESNE ASSIGNMENTS, TO THE HOLLSTEIN NOVELTY COMPANY.
GAME APPARATUS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 609,390, dated August 16, 1898. Application filed February 5, 1898- Serial No. 669,23 4. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CARL HOLLSTEIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the borough of Manhattan and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved game apparatus of that class in which a stick or handle portion is connected with a ring by a string, the object being to play the ring on the end of the stick; and the invention cbnsists of a game apparatus composed of a stick and a the globe ring.
cube or globe ring, formed of a cubical or spherical body perforated in its three axial directions at right angles with each other, and a string connecting one of the corners of the cube or globe ring with the stick, as will be more fully described hereinafter and finally pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a side elevation of my improved game apparatus; Fig. 2, a side elevation showing the cube-ring played onto the stick; and Figs. 3 and dare vertical central sections through a cube or globe ring, respectively.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Referring to the drawings, A represents a stick of wood or other suitable material pointed at one end and blunt at the opposite end, which latter is used as a handle. A string B is connected to the stick and to a corner of the cube-ring O. This cube-ring is preferably formed of a cubical block of wood, which is bored out in the direction of its three central axes at right angles to each other, so that a hollow cube withsix circular openings is formed, as shown in the drawings. In place of a cube-ring a globe-ring 0 might be used, formed of a spherical block which is bored out in the direction of three axes arranged at right angles with each other; but I prefer the cube-ring, for the reason that the same can be manufactured cheaper than The connecting-cord B is preferably connected with the cube-ring O by means of a screw-eye cl, which is screwed into one of the corners of the cube-ring; but it is obvious that the connection with the cubering can be made in any other suitable manner.
The faces of the cube-ring G can be differently colored or numbered, so that the use of the game apparatus is made more interesting. If a number of toys are used by different persons and the number of catches and the value of the catches be taken down,
a regular cube-ring game can be made. As
the cube-ring can be caught on the stick in ings bored in the direction of three central axes arranged at right angles to each other whereby said block is adapted to be impaled on said stick, and a cord connecting said block with the stick, substantially as set forth.
2. A game apparatus, consisting of a handle or stick portion, a block provided with openings bored in the direction of three central axes arranged at right angles to each other and to the sides of the block whereby said block is adapted to be impaled on said stick,
and a cord attached at one end to said stick and at the other end to a corner of said block,
substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention 1 have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
