Description
@uiten tats; @anni @fitte IMPROVED WASH-BOARD AND WRINGER.
SPECIFICATION- TO ALL WHOM `I'l MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, JOHN WHEELER, of Augusta, in the county of Kennebec, in the State of Mainc`,`have made a new and useful improvement in apparatus for Washing and Wringing Clothes; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the Vconstruction and operation'lo" thesame, reference being had to the annexed drawings making a part of this specification.
B B represents the washfboard; `W W the wringer;v F F the folding-frame; yH the handleto the wringer.4
I construct my wash-board, B B, in the ordinary way of the grooved board, the side-pieces extending suiicently above the board, to give a bearing to the rollers. The wringer, W W, consists of two rollers, the shaft of the lower one passing directly through the side-pieces, and the uppcrmoving in sliding boxes, and acted upon by a. t
spring attached to the under side of the cap-piece, (not seen in figure). The folding-frame, F F, composed of four rails, the sides being flat and the' cross-bars turned, is made of the proper size to fill the space below the board, and is attached by pins to the lower end'of side-pieces. The apparatus when used is to be placed in the wash-tub, its lower end bearing on the bottom and its upper part resting on the edge of the tub. The board, B B, can then be used in the usual way. When ready for the wringer, the foldinglf12tn1e,-E` F, is thrown outward, bearing on the bottomfand pressingr against the side of the tub.f By so doing the apparatus is raised suiiiciently for opera-ting the wringer, and at the same time supported at its foot. The` wringer can beused in the usual waywithout any other fastening. I
What I claim as my improvement, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of wringer and wash-board, in connection with the folding-frame, `as and for the purposes herein named.
JOHN WHEELER.
