Be it known that I, ELIASiASHCROFT, of South Boston, inthe county of Suffolk, and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful improvement in Oil Cans, which I term a combined oil can and lamp g and I do hereby vdeclare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilledin the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, inl whichl 4 Figure 1 is a vertical central section of my combined bill` can and lamp. A, represents the body of an oil can, which may be of the ordinary or any other suitableconstruction. i Inside of this ca'n, a. short distancel above the bottom thereof, I place a. perforated plate or disk, Above this plate, B,u a tube, C, is secured to the sideY of' the can, and opening therein, and which extends upward; and
below the plat'e, B, another tube, D, is secured, which also extends'upward. The former,l C, is intended for the wick-tube, and intofit is inserted the. wick, whichruns down into the can and lies upon the plate, B, as shown A in red in iig.4 1. The latter, D, is the oil-spout, and inasmuch asfi't opens into thecan below the plate, B. its mouth lcannot be clogged by the wick. i i
AThis arrangement produces alight which follows or goes with the spout of the oil can and enablesthe person to see just where to deposit the' oil; and the device-is at once convenient and useful. i A
