Be it known that I, LUDWIG BOHM, a subject of the King of Prussia, German Emperor, residing at Berlin, Germany, have invented a certain new and useful Improved Ink-Pot for School-Desks, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, and for which I have obtained patents in Germany, No. 61,595, dated July 10, 1891, No. 65,170, dated March 25, 1892, and No. 66,192, dated June 28, 1892; in Switzerland, No.12,482, dated May 15, 1896; in Belgium, No. 121,387, dated May 16, 1896; in Austria, No. 46/2,?09, dated May 16, 1896; in Hungary, No. 6,908, dated May 19, 1896; in England, No. 11,159, dated May 22, 1896, and in Italy, No. 41,724, dated June 3, 1896.
The present invention consists of an inkpot for school-desks specially designed with a View to preventing the ink from getting thick through long standing. This object is attained by arranging the ink-pot movably, so that on opening or closing the same the pot will be changed from a vertical to a horizontal position, or vice versa, and in order to render the present specification more easily intelligible reference is had to the accompanying drawings, in which similar letters of reference denote similar parts throughout the facilitate opening the cover, the desk is provided with a cavity at the rear of the hinge, and the cover is provided with a rearwardlyextending part on at the opposite side of its hinge 0. In order to open the cover, it is only necessary to press on the rearwardly-extending flange m and swing the cover around on its hinge. To close the pot, the flange m should be again depressed, the said flange now lying on the opposite side of the hinge.
I claim as my invention- 1. An ink-pot for school-desks having a body f and a laterally-arranged neck 9, separated partially from said body by ani-ndentation as specified, means for supporting said pot pivotally in the desk-well, a cover hinged to the said well and means for connecting said pivoted ink-pot to the wellcover so as to throw the same into a horizontal position with the neck opening upward when the cover of the well is opened substantially as described.
2. The combination of an ink-pot having a body f and a neck 9 separated partially from said body by an indentation, a casing pivotally suspended in the ink-well of the desk in which the body of the ink-pot fits, a cover to the ink-well of the desk and means for turning said casing and ink-pot into a horizontal several views.

The ink-pot is formed of a body f and a throat g, partially separated from the body f by an indentation in the glass. The pot is placed in a casing c, which is hinged to the floor of the well a, said casing 0 being connected to the hinged cover at of the well by means of a rod Z and eyes i it. Thus when the cover of the Well is thrown open the casing 0 will be swung on its hinges at h and the ink-pot will be turned into the horizontal position. The length of the rod Z is such as to allow the pot to occupy an exactly horizontal position when the cover dis thrown back. To

3. The combination of an ink-pot having a body f and laterally-arranged neck 9 separated partially from said body by means of an indentation as specified, a casing pivotally suspended in the ink-well of the desk, into which said body of the ink-pot fits, a cover to the ink-well of the desk and a rod connecting the lower part of the ink-pot casing to the interior surface of the cover in the manner and for the purpose substantially as described.
