Description
Y UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MARTIN ALLGAUER, OF PORT CHESTER, NEW YORK.
SUPPORTING-STAND.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N o. 595,686, dated December 21, 189'?.
Application ned April 22, 1897.
To @ZZ whom tm/ay concern,.-
Beit known that I, MARTIN ALLGAUEE, a
y subject of the Emperor of Austria, residing the more secure will become the union of said members.
In order that my said invention may be clearly explained and understood in detail, I have annexed hereto a sheet of drawings, in which Figure l is a perspective elevation showv ing four pieces of wood united according to my invention. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a vertical elevation of the same. Fig. 4is a view of a single member of the support, showing the cuts therein in face View. Fig. 5 is aview of the member shown in Fig. t,Y taken at the side indicated by the arrow 5; andpFig. 6 is Va view thereof taken at the side indicatedby the arrow 6. Fig. 7
'is a horizontal sectional view taken onthe line 7 7 of Fig. 5, and Fig. 8 is a horizontal sectional view taken on the line 8 8 of Fig. 3.
In said figures, A A A A indicate the mem- Serial No. 633,236. (Model.)
bers comprising mysupport, and which members are in Figs. I and .3 seen to be united together by being interlocked in the manner to be described hereinafter.
As most clearly shown in Figs. 4, 5, and 6, incisions a b are made in each member A, leaving the projecting portions c d. The pieces A, being now put together edgewise in pairs, the projections of each pair of members will iit into the incisions of the other pair of members, causing a close jointure, and a downward pressure upon the parts t-hus assembled will unite them more firmly. In order Vto prevent the said members from becoming displaced laterally, I may pass bolts e f horizontally therethrough in the manner indicated and secure said bolts with nuts.
Although I have described my invention as applied to carpentry, I am aware that the said members A may be composed of metal of any desired material, and I do not by any means limit myself to the use of Wood; but,
Having now described my invention, I declare that what I claim is- A support comprising the members A, A, A, A, each of said members having the depressions a, b, and projections c, d, enabling them to unite together, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim theforegoing I -have hereunto set my hand this 8th day of March, 1897.
MARTIN ALLGAUER. Witnesses:
