Be it. known that we, PAUL GERHARDT KLINcLER and JOSEPH W. MAYNE, citizens of the United States, residing at Easton,in the county of Northampton and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Magic Toys, of which the following is a full and complete specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

In the practice of our invention we provide a cylindrical casing 5, in which is mounted a revoluble drum 6, said drum being provided centrally with trunnions or pins 7, which pass centrally through the sides of the easing 5, and one of said trunnions or pins is provided with a circular head 8, by which the drum 6 may be turned in the casing 5. The

. casing 5 is provided in the upper side thereof with an opening 9, and passing centrally through said drum is a rod 10, on which is mounted a movable weight 11, and in the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the rod 10 is provided at each end with cushions or bearings 12, which are composed of rubber or similar material, and which are designed to prevent the weight 11 from striking the easing of the drum 6, and thus making a noise in the operation of the device.

In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the casing 5 and the drum 6 are preferably composed of sheet metal, while in the construction shown in Fig. 4 the drum 6 is composed of wood, paper, or similar material, and in this form of construction the cushions 12 are omitted.

The drum 6 in practice is provided on the perimeter thereof, at the point where the ends of the rod 10 connect therewith, with the words Yes and No, the word No being shown in Fig. 3, and by means of the head 8, which is formed on or secured to one of the trunnions or pins 7, the drum 6 maybe rapidly revolved, and when said drum comes toastop one ofthe words Yes or No will show through the opening 9 in the top of the casing 5, it being understood that in the operation ofthe device it is always held so that said opening will appear on the upper side thereof, and by means of this arrangement of the various parts of our device it will be apparent that any question that maybe asked will be answered by the device either in the affirmative or negative, the weight 11 always serving to bring one of the answers opposite the opening 9.

This device is simple in construction and operation, and it will be apparent that any desired question may be asked and an answer thereto given by manipulating the drum 6, as hereinbefore described, and it will also be apparent that other answers maybe placed upon the drum 6 or substituted for the aning, and said drum being provided on its- 5 perimeter with words which are adapted to show through said opening, substantially as shown and described.
