IMPROVED TABLE.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 58,995, dated October 22E, 1866.
.To all 'whom it may conce-ru Be it known that I, ERNEST DINTER, of Boston, in the county ot' Suttolk and State ot Massachusetts, have invented an Improvement in Tables 5 and I do hereby declare the same to he fully described in the following specilication and represented in the accompanying drawings, ot' which- Figure l is a side View of the table made in accordance with my invention. Figs. 2 and 3 are views of the two parts ot' its sta-ud.
Iu such drawings,A denotes the top, and B the supporting-stand ot' such top. The said stand is formed of two parts or pieces, a b, arranged at right angles to each other, and formed as represented in Figs. 2 and 3-that is to say, there is a slot, c, running down the middle of one part, a, from its top about onehalf the length of such part, and equal in Width to the thickness of the part b. There is also another such slot, d, running up from the lower edge of the part b, and having a width equal to the thickness of the part a. Each slotis open at one end and closed at the other, as represented in Figs. 2 and 3. The said slots enable the two parts a b to be intel-locked or each to extend into the other, so as to bring them at right angles to one another with the upper edges in one plane, their lowermost edges heilig also brought into one plane.
The external form and ornamentation ot the stand, or two parts of which it may be composed, may be as represented or in any other desirable manner, such constituting no part of my invention.
The purpose of my invention is to enable the parts of the table, when apart from one another, to be packed in a small compass, either for transportation or preservation. The top is to be fastened to the stand by brackets or screws, or any other suitable mea-ns.
I claim- The improved tablestaud as having its two parts a b constructed with receiving-slots arranged iu them, so as to enable them to be applied together, substantially as set forth.
