ALBERT MOORMAN, OF ST.'PAUL, MINNESOTA.
PLATE-G LASS SHOW-GAS E.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 588,647, dated August 24, 1897.
Application filed May 16, 1895. Serial No. 549,388. (No model.)
a case the top and front sides of which are held in place by the end and rear rails and bottom of case, the upper plate resting upon and projecting slightly beyond the front plate, thus dispensing with the'use of the upper front rail and affording an unobstructed view of the interior of the case.
My invention further consists in improverails for holding the plates in place and allowing them to be easily andquickly taken apart and put together.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspective View of my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section, and Fig. 3 is a vertical cross-section of the same. i
In the drawings, A represents the bottom of the case, upon which is mounted the frame B. This frame consists of the vertical end rails 2, the top end rails 3, and rear rail 4. The rear rail is formed with the corner-groove 5 and the top end rails with the similar groove 6, in which rests the top plate 7, being held in place by means of the molding 8, the front edge of the plate resting upon and projecting slightly beyond the front plate 9, This front plate is held in place by the vertical end rails 2 in the same manner as the top plate is held in place by the end rails 3.
The end plates or panels of the case are held in place, as shown in Fig. 2, in the corner-groove 10 in the end rails by means of the molding 11.
It will be seen that both the top and front plates are held in place by the end and rear rails, the top plate resting upon and projecting slightly beyond the front plate, the ordinary front rail being dispensed with, thus affordin g an unobstructed front View to the inside of the case.
I claim 1. As an improved article of manufacture, a show-case of the class described, made up or the base, the corner-standards, the end and rear top horizontal rails forming substantially a rectangular frame, the front glass panel secured in the front standards and supported upon said base, and the top glass panel secured in grooves in said top rails, so as to be supported by its ends and rear edge, and With its front edge overlapping and resting upon the front panel.
2. As an improved article of manufacture, a show-case, made up of the base, the cornerstandards, and the rear and end horizontal top rails, said rails and'standards having their edges cut away to form right-angled grooves, the glass. plate or panel arranged in the grooves in the standards and resting upon the base, and the glass plate or panel similarly arranged in the grooves in the top rails, with its front edge overlapping and resting upon the edge of the front plate, and the securing-strips for holding said panels in said grooves.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.v
