lowing is a specification.
My invention relates to rulers, and particularly to flat rulers, the objects being to provide means for readily lifting the rulers, andalso to permit of their being placed in an inclined position on the surface on which they are to be used, so that the ruler may be above the surface, and thus facilitate the use of the pen and prevent blotting.
Referring to the drawings which form a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a front View, and Fig. 2 a side View, of a ruler with my improvement. Fig. 3 is a plan of the handle part separately, and Fig. 4 is a plan of the ruler separately.
The same letters represent the same parts wherever they occur.
a is the ruler; b, a slot therein, through which is placed the end 0 of the handle-piece d in such manner that 0 will project through the slot on the opposite side to that on which projects the handle 6. The projecting endc keeps the ruling edge f above the surface 9 on which the ruler is being used, and so facilitates the movement of the pen along it and, moreover, prevents blotting.
