BRUSH-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 583,57 6, dated June 1, 1897.
Application filed October 14, 1896. Serial No. 608,801. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, EZRA A. LOsEE, a citizen of the United States,residing at Lake City, in the county of Calhoun and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brush-Holders and I do here-- claimed.
. jaws normally stand away from each other, by reason of their inherent spring action, and are adapted to be closed by means of a sliding ring or loop 4, surrounding the same and engaging the sides of said jaws. Secured also to said stem 2 are the depending jaws 5, also possessing inherent spring action and thereto.
having at their lower ends the grooved part sockets 6 to embrace the sides of the handle. The ring or loop 7 also surrounds these jaws 5, whereby they may be contracted to engage the end of the handle. These parts are conveniently made of wire, which are bent inwardly about midway between their ends to form the contracted section which passes through the section 2, which is screwed rigidly As shown in Fig. 2, a brush or sponge can be easily clamped upon the end of the handle by means of the ring or loop 7, and in this connection it is desirable to drive a tack into the handle above said ring to firmly hold the same in position.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A holder of the kind specified consisting of two pairs of spring-jaws extending in opposite directions from an interposed stem, one of said pairs of jaws being provided with transverse heads 3 and a sliding ring 4, while the other of said pairs of jaws are semicircular in cross-section to form sockets and are provided with the sliding ring, substantially as described.
