Description

(N0 Model.)
D. G. PAXTON.
TOWEL RACK.
Patented May 18, 1897.
a. W ATTORNEY.
UNITED STATES DELBERT G. PAXTON,
PATENT OFFICE.
OF MONTOUR, IOIVA.
TOWEL-RACK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 582,679, dated May 18, 1897.
Application filed October 1, 1896.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, DELBERT G. PAXTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Montour, in the county of Tama and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Towel-Racks; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The invention relates generally to the household-rack for towels, but more particularly to those racks which are provided with springs.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a perspective View intended to illustrate my invention in actual use; Fig. 2, a detail View of the towelholding rod to show clearly its terminal grooves; Fig. 3, a similar view of my spring.
In the drawings, A represents a bracket provided with the back a, which is conveniently adapted to be secured by a nail, hook, screw, or in any suitable way to the wall and in the neighborhood of the washstand. To this back is attached at the bottom and at right angles thereto the frame B G B, the arms B B being intended to hold securely the cross-piece 0.
Serial No. 607,538. (No model.)
D is a metallic wire bent at each side to make the right-angled arms d cl, which are coiled at d to form springs and have their ends secured in the keepers E E, as illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawings.
The rod F is held between the arms d d of the spring-clamp D and has the towels hung upon it, while one end of the towel is held by the spring to the cross-piece 0. End grooves in the rod F receive the said arms of the spring and enable it to be easily retained in position.
Having thus described all that is necessary to a full understanding of my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is-
A towel-rack consisting of the bracket A with its wall-back a, the arms B B carrying the cross-piece O, the wire D having the arms d d end-coiled to form springs d d", the keepers E and the end-grooved rod F fitting on and between the said arms d d, all combined and arranged as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affiX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
DELBERT G. PAXTON.
