NOTE-BOOK HOLDER.

To aZl whom it may concern Be it known that I, FREDERICK J arson, a citizen of the United States, residing at Council Blufi's, in the county of Pottawattamie and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Note- Book Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to note book holders, and has for its object to provide an article of this character especially adapted to be connected to and supported by any well known typewriter frame.

A further object of the invention is to conv truct an article of this character which will hold a note book or the like in a convenient position and in plain View of an operator.

. \Vith these and other objects in view, the

invention consists in the construction and novel combination of parts hereinafter described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing. and pointed out in the claim hereto appended; it being understood that various changes in the form, proportion, size and minor details of construction within the scope of the claim, may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the inrention.

In the accompanying drawing Figure l is a front elevation of the holder showing the manner in which the note book is supported, Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of the holder, the note book removed therefrom, Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 3-3 of Fig. 1.

T he device consists of a single length of stout wire, so fashioned as to provide a pair of spaced arms 1, being bent at their upper ends so as to produce contacting bars 2 and 2 and 3, the same being disposed horizontally and spaced apart, The upper bars 2 and 2 are held in spaced relation from the lower bar 3 by contacting vertical bars 4 and 4, which are the terminals of the bars 2 and 2. and are consequently formed from two lengths of wire, thus adding rigidity to the bars 2 and 4, and upon which the weight of the note book 5 is supported. The bars 2 and 2 and 4t and 4 being formed each from two lengths of wire are soldered, which in effect. constitutes single strands of wire formlng these bars. nates at one end in a loop 6, said loop projecting slightly beyond one side of one of the arms 1, thus forming the bar 3 a suflicient length to readily support the cover of the note book 5. A metallic plate 7 is provided and has its side edges bent so as to embrace the arms 1, thus firmly joining the same. Formed near the upper end of the plate 7, and projecting slightly beyond the outer surface thereof is a resilient clip 8, said clip being adapted to clamp the back cover and leaves of the note book, but at the same time permitting the operator to remove a single page of the note book as the matter thereon has been transcribed, the said page being then turned over and behind the upper bar 2. The clips 8 are preferably cut from the plate 7, thus forming an integral part thereof, which reduces the cost of the device to a great extent. The lower ends of the arms 1 are bent back upon themselves and extend upwardly to form loops 9, the wire forming the loops terminating in horizontal extensions 1.0, which are adapted to lie against the inner side of the rear frame section of a typewriter of any well known construction, the wire forming the loops 9 containing a sufficient resiliency to firmly clamp upon the typewriter frame to support the holder.

What I claim is:

A note book holder composed of a single length of wire comprising a pair of vertical arms, a horizontal bar attached to one of the vertical arms and connected to the top of the other arm, the bar and the arm to which it is connected both terminating in vertical bars, each of which in turn terminate in a horizontal bar, said horizontal bars extending over the first named bar and spaced therefrom, a plate having its edges bent around said arms to support the same below the horizontal bars, a clip carried by said plate to engage the leaves of a note book when the same is supported by the horizontal bars, said arms having their lower ends formed with resilient loops for engaging a support.
