IVILLIAM BUSCH, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
MOP OR BRUSH HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters PatentNo. 300,692, dated June 17, 1884.
Application filed December 26, 1883. (Merlot) T0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WVILLIAM Boson, of the city of St.-Louis, and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mop or Brush Holders, of which the follow.- ing is aspecification.
The following description is as clear and exact as I am able to give, reference being had to the drawing hereto annexed, which is a perspective view of the device.
My present invention relates to combined cleaners and attachments employed to fasten brushes, mops, and like articles to holders, rods, and staffs.
The implement herein described may be made of any suitable size and of any kind of metal or other suitable material. 'It consists of the cylindrical tube or socket, (marked A in the accompanying drawing,) into which a holder, rod, or staff is inserted. This socket has a small hole in one ofits longitudinal sides, with a set-screw to fasten it to or detach it from the holder or rod, or a simple nail or other device may be employed for the purpose. At the ends of the said socket are attached, and form part thereof, the fiat bars or plates, (marked 13 and O in the accompanying drawing.) Between said plates and said socket is the space marked D in the accompanying drawing. In the bar or plate B aretwo holes, into which are inserted screws to attach to it either abrush, duster, mop, or other like article, or into said holes may be inserted fixed pivots or simple nails, or any other device for such fastening purposes. I11 case of using a mop, it may be attached by wire or twine to the outside of either of said plates B or O, or may be inserted through the space D, and then tied by a string or wire or any other device to this instrument. The said plate 0 is somewhat wider than the plate B, and the outer flat and side edges of said plate 0 have grooved and corrugated surfaces, so that its sharp edges will when applied by any person remove, shave, and rub off any incrustation or substance which is softer than the material of the implement employed.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters 3 Patent, is l l I 1. A mop or brush holder consisting of the i socket A, corrugated plate 0, and perforated base-plate B, substantially as described.
; 2; A mop or brush holder consisting of the socket A, corrugated plate 0, and perforated base-plate B,'in combination with a brush or 1 other analogous article, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
1 WILLIAM BUSOH.
