Description

(No Model.)
. P. NEUMANN. I
PENHOLDER FOR WRITING ROUNDHAND.
No. 577,875. Patented Mar.- 2, 1897".
NrrE' TATES PAUL NEUMANN, OF BERBISDORF, GERMANY.
PENHOLDER FOR WRITING ROUNDHAND.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 577,875, dated. March 2, 1897.
A li ation fil d December 2, 1895. Serial No. 570.762. (N0 model.) Patented in Austria September 28, 1895, No. 45/3,500,
- and in Hungary October 3,1895, No. 3,739.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, PAUL NEUMANN, extorpedo-sublieutenant, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Berbisdorf, Silesia, in the German Empire, have invented a certain new and useful Apparatus for VVriting Roundhand, (for which I have received Letters Patent in Austria under date September 28, 1895, No. 45/3500, and in Hungary under date of October 3, 1895, No. 3,739,) of which the following is a full and clear specification.
The object of the apparatus which oonstitutes my invention is to render possible the employment of roundhand of large dimensions, such as would be suitable for signboards, posters, and the like, and the accompanying drawings show the essential features of my invention.
Figure 1 is a top viewwith pencils in position. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section through X X, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a top view showing pens in position for use. Fig. 4 are two letters as they would appear when written with my apparatus.
The section-piece a is provided with a slot 1;, in which slides one, two, or more split tubes 0, which can be retained in any position as regards the fixed pen or the like by sliding the slot b and tightening up the washer g by the pinch-screws f. The pencils, pens, or other like writing-tools are retained in their posie, working in the two lugs 0, one being on each side of the split in the tube.
The apparatus may be made of any material suited to the purpose-brass, for instance. I do not confine myself to the precise shape, conformation and disposition of the various parts, as the principle may be carried out without departing from the invention.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is- An apparatus for writing roundhand and consisting essentially of a pen, pencil or other like writing appliance fixed at one end of a curved slot in which move split tubes for retaining pencils or other writing instruments at any required angle with the fixed writing appliance or with each other, the said writing appliance being clamped in the split tubes and in the slot by pinch-screws, the whole substantially as described in the above specification and exemplified by the accompanying drawings.
Signed at Hanover, Empire of Germany, this 7th day of November, 1895.
