SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 577,415, dated February 23, 1897.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELIJAH ENOSH BROWN, a citizen of the United States, and aresident of Cripple Creek, county of El Paso, and State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which similar letters of reffore its corkin g and sealing attachment can be removed.
The invention will be hereinafter fully described and specifically set forth in the annexed claims.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure l is a vertical sectional elevation of the upper portion of my improved bottle. Fig. 2 is a sectional plan view taken on a line 00 a: of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a plan view of a cap used for sealing my bottle, and Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a key used for locking the seal in the neck of the bottle.
In the practice of my invention an ordinary bottle A is provided with a neck a. The outlet portion of this said neck is conical with the base of the cone joining the body of the bottle. This said conical portion registers with an inverted conical portion adapted for receiving a cork. Projected from the lower conical channel of the bottle-neck are two shoulders at, which said shoulders are semicircular in sectional plan and are arranged at right angles with each other at different elevations. Formed within the neck a is an an nular recess b, which said recess is conical in vertical section, and leading upwardly from this said recess are two apertures 12, which said apertures are adapted to engage with prongs c of a key 0. This said key is composed, preferably, of spring-metal wire, and it has a loop or handle 0' formed upon the upper portion thereof. The lower ends of the prongs 0 have inwardlyprojected arms 0 thereon, which said arms are only half the diameter of the thickness of the wire, whereby they can be compressed for the purpose of passing down through the openings 1) in the bottle-neck.
As a means for sealing the bottle I provide a metallic cap D,which has apertures 01 therein for receiving the prongs c of the key 0.
In the operation of the device the bottle will be filled in the ordinary way through the neck thereof. A cork E will then be inserted within the upper conical portion of the neck, after which the cap D will be placed over the neck in such a manner as to have its apertures d exactly register with the apertures b in the neck of the bottle. The prongs c of the key 0 will then be inserted into the apertures and forced downwardly until the arms 0 spring into engagement with the annular recess b of the bottle-neck, whereby the bottle will be securely locked and sealed.
In order to remove the contents of the bottle, the upper conical portion of the neck thereof will be broken, away, whereby the bottle can be readily emptied, but owing to the shape of the lower portion of its neck it will be impossible to insert a cork therein, and although liquid could be introduced into the bottle the same could not be corked or sealed, owing to the projecting prongs a.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A bottle having a double conical outlet through the neck thereof, shoulders proj ected inwardly from the top of the lower conical portion, and an annular recess formed Within the wall or material of the neck thereof, said recess having apertures leading upwardly therefrom to the top of the neck for engagement with a key, substantially as shown and described.
2. The combination of a bottle having a double conical outlet through the neck thereof, shoulders projecting inwardly from the lower conical portion thereof, an annular recess formed within the wall of the neck thereof having apertures leading upwardly therefrom, and a two-pronged key adapted to enter said apertures, said prongs having springarms upon the lower ends thereof for engagement with the said annular recess, substantially as shown and described.
3. The combination of a bottle having a double conical outlet in the neck thereof, and shoulders projecting inwardly from the lower conical portion, and an annular recess formed within the wall of said neck, which recess has apertures leading upwardly therefrom, with a metal cap and a two-pronged spring-metal key, having spring-arms upon the lower end of its prongs, for looking the bottle, substantially as shown and described.
