NrrED STATES FFICE IIELEN MATTIE EATON, OF OMAIIA, NEBRASKA.
AMUCILAGE-BOTTLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 576,187, dated February 2, 1897.
Application filed February 24, 1896. Serial No. 580,448. (No model.)
To all ZU7L0777/ it may concern.-
Be it known that I, I-IELEN MATTIE EATON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Omaha, in the county of Douglas and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mucilage-Bottles, of
' with a hollow conical attachment which is formed thereon or connected therewith, and the base of which is directed downwardly or inwardly.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms apart, said drawing being a central vertical section of a mucilage-bottle provided with my improved device, which is also shown in central vertical section.
In the practice of my invention I provide a bottle A, which may be of any desired form and which is provided with a neck B, the base of which is enlarged, as shown at b, and detachably connected with the neck B is a cap D, provided near its outer side with a deep annular groove d and which is also provided centrally thereof with a circular depression (1 in which is formed an opening through which the brush is adapted to be passed, and at the bottom of which is an inwardly-directed annular shoulder 61 on which is formed or to which is secured a hollow conical attachment E, the base of which is directed inwardly. I also provide a mucilage-brush F, having a handle G, on which is mounted a circular disk g, which is adjustable on the handle G, and in operation the brush is passed through the central opening in the cap D and supported by the disk g, and the amount of mucilage within the bottle will regulate the position of the disk.
In removing the brush for use the surplus mucilage is wiped therefrom on the lower end of the conical attachment E, and by this arrangement I provide means whereby the neck 13 of the bottle cannot be clogged with inucilage, and whenever necessary the cap D may be removed and the conical attachment E may be cleaned or the dried mucilage removed therefrom.
This device is simple in construction and operation, and my invention is not limited to the exact form, construction, and arrangement of parts herein shown and described, and I reserve the right to make all such alterations therein as fairly come within the scope of the invention.
Having fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The combination with a mucilage-bottle of a removable centrally-apertured cap having formed therein annular grooves in its upper and under surfaces, the groove in the upper surface being of a greater diameter than that in the under surface, and a disk encircling the shank of the brush, said disk being adapted to restin an annular shouldered recess formed in said cap, said cap having also a conical casing depending centrally into the bottle, all substantially as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name, in pres ence of the subscribing witnesses, this 18th day of February, 1896 HELEN MATTIE EATON.
Witnesses:
EVA E. BEACH, C. J. SMYTH.
